Social media marketing Agency, Faves Asia made the headlines yesteryear when they released a recruitment ad video (which has since been deleted) after receiving backlash from the online community.
Now they have made the news once again, and I am not too sure what to make of it.
Okay, in any story, there are always three sides—your side, my side and the cold hard truth.
Let me tell you one side of it.
Miki’s side
Stomper Miki took part in a giveaway by Faves Asia which entailed a pair of tickets to a Jay Chou concert.
On 26 Dec, Sky Lim, the spokesman of Faves Asia contacted Miki via FB chat to let her know about her win.
Sky then mentioned that there will be only one ticket up for grabs as opposed to a pair.
So according to Miki, the giveaway mentioned two tickets up for grabs—but that didn’t seem to bother her as she messaged Sky asking about the seating arrangements.
On a side note, the conversation has progressed from FB chat to WhatsApp…
Okay back to the story.
She asked about the seating arrangements coz’ her friend wanted to buy a seat next to hers.
However, Sky told her that it would be impossible as Faves Asia had already purchased tickets for seats 33 to 41 of Row G.
But Miki was still very keen on receiving the ticket.
After going back and forth on the collection date, Sky asked her if he could pass the tickets on the day of the concert (6 Jan).
To which she asked if her sister-in-law could come and collect on her behalf and Sky told her that her sister-in-law does not need to bring any documents.
But things didn’t play out as what Miki expected.
On 1 Jan, she received a message from Sky at 12:07 A.M: Miki, Sorry to inform that my colleague have given out the last jaychou ticket to another giveaway winner that he shortlisted. You should have come last Friday to collect haha. Nonetheless, happy new year.
She then posted about her experience to Facebook:
Okay now to hear, Faves Asia’s side of the story…
According to stomp, a Fave Asia spokesman said: “We sincerely apologise for the misunderstanding and unhappiness caused to Miki.”
In the statement to Stomp’s query, they mentioned that Miki was supposed to collect the tickets last Friday (29 Dec) but cancelled due to her company event.
But as mentioned, she requested if her “SIL” could come and collect it on her behalf.
“However, when we wanted to clarify what SIL meant, she only replied with an ‘okay’.
“Since then, her point of contact, the ‘SIL’ did not contact us and there was no confirmation given to us about the exact collection time or date.”
They mentioned that they needed to give out the tickets to someone who is sincere and able to collect them on time since the Jay Chou is approaching in a few days time.
The spokesperson said:”After waiting for about a day and a half for Miki’s response (from either herself or her point of contact), we’ve decided to issue the ticket to another person (whom we have considered as one of the winners from the beginning).
“The other person had responded to us quickly and arranged a date to collect the tickets from us,” they added.
They tried to reach out to Miki to make good on their promise by purchasing another ticket for her or compensating her with cash.
“However, we have not received a response from her despite multiple calls.”
The truth
Well, that is still a mystery.
I mean not really; it is just a miscommunication.
I mean, did you know what happened to Andy Lau when he wanted to buy a pair of Jay Chou concert tickets?
He got scammed!
Just take a look.
Don’t be like Andy Lau! #justsaying
