So, remember the article I wrote about this domestic worker being charged $145 for a screen protector?
Yeah, me neither. I’ve been writing so many articles recently I don’t even remember what I’ve written for the past few weeks.
So, here’s a summary of the incident, for both our sakes.
In a Facebook post by Denise Han on 18 Feb, it’s revealed that the domestic worker working for her has been charged $145 for a screen protector at EZ Advance Trading Enterprise., a shop in Lucky Plaza.
Here’s the post in question, if you’re interested.
Update :Thanks all for your concern and advice!! Just to update all that the boss had provided us with full refund…

(Ahh, now I remember!)
The post reads:
“Must avoid ez advance trading enterprise at all costs!!!!! This shop cheated our helper and rip her $145 for a screen protector !!! Our helper thought it’s $10 Or $20 the most but the shop give invoice of $145 and pressurized our helper that everything is on cctv and she have to pay up!!!! And my helper was afraid and did what they say. Bloody disgusting shop!! $145 is Alot of money for domestic worker and they have to feed entire family back home!!! Shame on you #ezadvancetrading what can my helper do ???”
“My cousin just called them on 18th pm. and they r really crappy with their response!!”
They said
“ Rolex watch is watch. Patek Phillippe also watch. Quality matters. This is a good quality tempered glass 2. Our tempered glass comes with free replacement, there’s a 1 year warranty”
“$145 is a small sum”
“It’s her word against my staff’s. How can you prove???”
“Cannot be you come in to buy a screen protector and you see me put it on for you and then you say you don’t want to buy”
“Return my helper her hard earn money !!!!”
In an update by Miss Han on 23 Feb, it would appear that her domestic worker has received a full refund.
“Update :
Thanks all for your concern and advice!!
Just to update all that the boss had provided us with full refund today.
Thank you all again!!!”
Such is the power of the internet.
When reporters from The Straits Times went down to interview shops in Lucky Plaza, many shop owners said that they had not heard any complaints about EZ Advance Trading Enterprise.
Most shop owners also went on to talk about the price of their screen protectors, with the highest being $48, and even that’s for the iPhone X.
According to the manager of EZ Advance Trading Enterprise, the screen protector costs $145 due to its high quality and a one-year warranty.
Bitch please, what a horrible liar.
The screen protector got damaged on the very first day too, according to Miss Han’s post.
Mr Loy York Jiun, the executive director of the Consumers Association of Singapore (Case), said that:
“Case would like to advise consumers to always shop around and compare prices when shopping.”
“They have the right to say ‘no’ if they do not wish to buy the item. Exerting pressure on a consumer to enter into a transaction is an unfair practice under the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act, and consumers can seek recourse under the Act.”
Well, whatever the case, I’m glad the domestic worker has received her refund. It’s times like this that netizens have to come together to take down unethical businesses. Call it mob justice or whatever, I’m just glad this incident has a happy ending.
