Woman Claims Delivery Rider Uses Bare Hands to Scoop Spilt Food Back to Container

Food delivery services in Singapore has become commonplace now, and for good reason:

  • It’s convenient
  • COVID-19 made us all stay home
  • There are plenty of promotions from time to time

However, as with everything good, there’ll be something bad as well.

Here’s what happened

Woman Claims Delivery Rider Uses Bare Hands to Scoop Spilt Food Back to Container

On 17 Mar 2022, Facebook user Maggie Lee took to the popular Facebook Group Complaint Singapore to vent her frustrations.

According to her post, she had food delivered to her at 12.02am.

She had a CCTV installed to monitor the area outside her home and when she viewed the footage, she was shocked to see the behaviour of the delivery rider.

For one, he was not wearing a mask and two, she could see him packing food back into the containers with his bare hands.

In the comments section of her post, Lee clarified that, thankfully, she caught sight of the rider’s actions before eating the food.

They threw the food away in the end.

Netizens’ Response

Given the magnitude of the incident and how it could’ve happened to anyone, really, netizens were quick to offer their two-cents worth.

One felt that she wouldn’t have been the only victim of such practices:

Another felt that she should report it to foodpanda and explained why with a slight show of faith in locals:

Calling such individuals “animals”, he urged her to call a “reporter” in as well, questioning what the state of the world has become.

It was added that she should put the entire clip in for “people” to see “the whole story”.

And finally, there are a few who are curious about the camera she uses as the footage shown was “clear”.

If you’re equally curious, it’s TP Link Tapo Series.

Do take note, however, that you’ll need permits to install cameras monitoring the outside of your home.

There was a netizen, however, who felt that judgement would have to be withheld before the full story is out:

Another netizen, however, pointed out that even if the shop was at fault, it doesn’t mean the rider should scoop the food back with his bare hands.

He should’ve let the customer decide what to do.
