When I say “debt collector”, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind?
Perhaps something like this?
Or maybe something like this?

No matter what, I’m sure most of you would equate Debt Collectors to Loan Sharks. What if I were to tell you that this is not the case?
What if I were to tell you that instead of burly, muscular men knocking on your door, you’re being greeted by this demure-looking lady here?
Now, ain’t that a far cry from the norm?
Vantage Debt Recovery, headed by Miss Jasmine Tan (as seen in the picture), took the soft approach when it comes to collecting debts. Instead of sending scary looking behemoths, they chose to send demure looking ladies to collect debts.
According to Miss Tan, the other party will feel more at ease and might feel that girls are more capable of understanding their situation.
And the best part of it all— is perhaps their professionalism. See them in action for yourselves!

Heck, although I have never seen a debt collector in action, I’m sure not all debt collection process goes so smoothly.
Perhaps Miss Tan was really correct about the soft approach! That coupled with their professionalism is indeed a force to be reckoned with!
According to Miss Tan, it’s easier to collect debts during the Lunar New Year period as most people are home for reunion dinner. They will disguise the letters by putting them in Ang Paos—just so they won’t arouse the suspicion of the debtor’s family members.
If the debtors aren’t home, they will slot the red packet between the railings of their metal gate instead. Because of this, one of the debtors actually contacted them and made an appointment to settle the debt the following week.

Due to the Chinese belief that we shouldn’t owe people things over the Lunar New Year period, many debtors will actually pay their debts beforehand.
Look, say what you will about debt collectors. As long as they are legal and don’t resort to splashing paint or violent threats—they are fine by my book.
After all, one should always learn to pay his/her own debts! You wouldn’t want someone to owe you a huge sum of money over a prolonged period of time, right?
