Have you ever been late for work for no reason so, you just make up an excuse that you are helping an elderly cross the road to seem like you are a good person?
No? Just me?
Well, this 26 years old man can finally use this reason for that really happened and he even has a news report to prove it.
Foreign Worker Rewarded for Helping Visually Impaired Elderly to the Nearest Polyclinic
On 18 April, the 26 years old Indian national, Mr Gunasekaran, was working when he noticed a visually impaired elderly man waiting by the road for a long time. The elderly man was trying to cross the road.
“The uncle told me that he wanted to see the doctor so I walked him to the nearest polyclinic.”
Surprisingly, his act of kindness was captured by a member of the public and it went viral.
As of 8 May, the video has over 280,000 Views, 119 Comments, 179 shares and over 2,300 reactions.
His act of kindness impressed the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) so much that they got the Assurance, Care and Engagement (Ace) Group officers to tracked down the foreign worker by pinpointing the location using the video.
That’s some intensive FBI work.
A token of appreciation was then handed to him.
In case you’re wondering what the Ace Group do, they hand out goody bags to foreign workers who they spot doing a good turn. They are a division under MOM and they were set up late last year.
Mr Gunasekaran’s kindness doesn’t end there. He even shared his reward with his friends.
His family back home were proud of him after watching the video. He even credited his kindness to his parents.
“Since I was young, my parents taught me to help people with disabilities. Everyone in my family is like that.”
Although helping the elderly man meant that he would be late for work, Mr Gunasekaran said that he would gladly do it again.
Foreign Workers Spotted Helping To Carry Wheelchair-Bound Elderly Up The Bus At Marine Parade
In other news, earlier this year, five foreign workers saved the day when an elderly man in a wheelchair was unable to board a bus in Marine Parade on 13 Jan 2021.
One of the workers went to the front of the bus stop to look out for his bus and flagged it down when it came. Whereas the other four carried the man together with his wheelchair, to the temporary bus stop.
Since the temporary bus stop wasn’t completely done yet, they had to carry him over.
