Have you been watching the new Star Wars TV series called The Mandalorian?
You should if you haven’t, it’s really good.
I mean, there’s BABY YODA.
I obviously know that’s not actually Baby Yoda but just another of the same species, I’m not a casual. But look at him. SO CUTE.
But I digress.Â
Watching this new series has brought back my Star Wars craze and after binge-watching the films again, I can’t help but really wish for droids like R2D2 and C3PO to exist in our world.
Looks like LTA is channelling their inner Skywalker because this dream is coming true.
OB1FORC3 & K3NOBIÂ
Journey to a galaxy far, far away… in Ang Mo Kio, the greatest town in Singapore.
You: Why is AMK the greatest town?
Me, a completely unbiased writer who definitely doesn’t live in AMK: Because science.
LTA is introducing two new droids robots as part of their emergency preparedness exercise called Exercise Station Guard.
The two robots, equipped with intelligent surveillance cameras, sensors, and video analytics capabilities will be patrolling around the MRT station to spot suspicious personnel or unattended belongings.
The robots, developed by local security company Oneberry Technologies, are called… OB1FORC3 and K3NOBI.
Looks like somebody working there is a huge Star Wars fan.
Exercise Station Guard
Putting aside the droids for now, other measures implemented will include having to walk through metal detectors and getting their belongings scanned by X-ray machines like in airports.
During this time (Monday, 9 December 2019, 10am to 4pm), commuters are advised to factor in a little extra travelling time and avoid bulky items to prevent longer screening times.
It’s good to know that we have two very advanced droids fused with the soul of the great Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi.
The Force will be strong with Ang Mo Kio MRT station on that day.
Also for any Star Wars fans who will be taking the MRT during that time, look out for the droids and don’t mistake them for another loyal capable droid.
And may the Force be with you.
