If you’re a fan of Mandopop, you might know him as Cao Ge, but many might not know about his marital problems if you’re not a die-hard fan.
Yes, I’m talking about Gary Chaw.
Gary Chaw Announces Divorce from Wu Shu-Ling
Malaysian singer Gary Chaw announced his divorce from his Taiwanese wife of 14 years, Wu Shu-Ling, on Saturday (26 November) on Instagram.
For months, the two have been posting cryptic, emo posts on their Instagram pages hinting at the lack of love and happiness in their relationship.
Well, the tension is finally released because the two are officially broken up.
The couple (or rather, the former couple), have announced the divorce on their individual Instagram stories, writing: “We have ended our 14-year marriage. On our journey together, there have been many beautiful memories. In the second half of our marriage, we were frequently unable to understand each other, which led to much soul-searching.”
“No one is right or wrong,” it continued. “We worked hard together in this marriage and the 14 years in each others’ life cannot be erased.”
Ending off, they highlighted that moving forward, they would still continue to take care of their children as a team and thanked the fans for their concern. They have two kids, a 14-year-old son and a 12-year-old daughter.

A Public Display, But Not of Affection: A Thread
The two have been in a cold war of social media posts since October.
For starters, Chaw wrote on Facebook on 26 Oct: “I am in Taipei, What about her?”
A day later, he wrote: “If i break down. Please forgive me. I can’t help myself. And nobody is willing to help. No alcohol. No medications. No drugs. Just me myself and I. Obviously no love”.
After seeing the singer’s emo love posts, his wife responded on 29 October on Instagram, posting a photo of her by the sea, with a lengthy caption in Mandarin.

Amongst other things, Wu wrote, “Just because I do not say anything does not mean I agree to this quietly.”
The 43-year-old also added: “Can one choose to let go in a relationship? Can it solve the problems?”
Wu also noted that she spends a lot of time affirming herself daily and needs to take good care of herself and make herself stronger to provide a stable environment for her children to grow up in.
A few hours later, Chaw shared a screenshot of his wife’s words, writing, “I agree, but it has nothing to do with love.”
Finally, to end off the drama, Chaw posted on 30 October on Facebook that he had troubles sleeping at night due to his marital problems.
He then posted a photo of the too of them, with the caption: “I’m not leaving you because I don’t love you. I’m leaving because I love you too much.”
How romantic.
