Neighbours Splashed Water at Each Other Due to “4D Betting Luck”

If there’s one thing that might seem more common than you think, it’s conflicts that neighbours have with each other.

But while most conflicts seem pretty simple and can be solved with a proper, mature conversation, other conflicts need both parties to do more than just shake hands with each other.

Like this conflict between a pair of brothers and their neighbour and her husband at Cassia Cresent, which is located in Geylang.

According to a man named Mr Lin Shengke (Hanyu pinyin), his neighbour went to his unit at Block 54 Cassia Cresent to pick a fight with his younger brother who was visiting him.

In particular, the fight they had on Saturday (10 June) ended with Mr Lin and the neighbour’s husband splashing water onto each other.

Mr Lin Threw Water Due to Bad 4D Luck Brought About by Quarrel

When speaking about his experience to Shin Min Daily News, 63-year-old Mr Lin explained that his younger brother lives near his block and will come to his house every morning to offer incense before work.

He added that he has been living with his wife and children at his Housing Development Board (HDB) unit for 39 years but that his neighbour, who is in her 70s, often creates conflict and trouble for him and his family.

However, when his brother visited his unit on 10 June at around 7 am, his neighbour suddenly appeared at his doorstep and started arguing with his brother for no reason.

She also pushed his brother’s shoulder.

After realising that they were quarrelling loudly in front of his unit, Mr Lin asked them to quarrel elsewhere, but they were too engrossed in their argument to move.

Mr Lin explained that he did not want them to quarrel as it was a Saturday, which meant that he had to buy 4D.

According to him, the loud quarrelling would cause him to have “bad luck” for that day’s 4D bets.

Well, the more you know.

Man Splashed Brother and the Floor, Neighbour’s Husband Retaliated

After watching the argument go on, Mr Lin could no longer tolerate it and went to his kitchen to fill a bucket of water.

He brought the bucket to the door and splashed it onto his brother.

Hold up… Yes, he threw the water on his own brother.

Mr Lin then splashed the remainder of the water on the floor in an attempt to chase his neighbour away.

However, his neighbour did not back down.

Instead, she called her husband to get a bucket of water and splash it right on Mr Lin.

The husband did as he was told and caused Mr Lin to get drenched.

His brother got splashed by the water too.

This angered Mr Lin, who walked in to get another pail of water to splash at his neighbours.

Afterwards, he told his brother to stop quarrelling and to get to work.

Neighbour Tried to Start a Fight, But Brother Ignored Her

However, the conflict didn’t just stop there.

Mr Lin claimed that his neighbour tried to go downstairs to try and fight with his brother.

On the other hand, his brother chose to ignore her and leave the scene.

Afterwards, the neighbour chastised Mr Lin for not “teaching his brother well”.

Conflict Has Gone On for Over a Decade

According to Mr Lin, the conflict between his family and his neighbour has been going on for over a decade.

Previously, the neighbour put up an excessive number of brooms in front of her unit.

She even chased Mr Lin with a wooden baton and knife.

Their conflicts have caused the police to be called on dozens of occasions.

Mr Lin added that they have even been to court for mediation, but nothing has been able to resolve their conflict thus far.

Apart from that, Mr Lin accused the neighbour of gossiping about his younger brother in front of his sister-in-law (his brother’s wife).

Apparently, she asked his brother’s wife why she had yet to divorce Mr Lin’s brother, which caused Mr Lin’s brother and sister-in-law to fall out with each other frequently.

Mr Lin also commented that his brother and neighbour have never been able to see eye to eye, but pointed out that his brother only started arguing with her on 10 June because she shoved him first.

Neighbour Denied Accusations

When Shin Min reporters visited the area, Mr Lin’s neighbour denied all the accusations that Mr Lin made against her.

Instead, she had something bad to say about Mr Lin.

(Yes, how surprising.)

The neighbour, Mrs Deng (Hanyu pinyin), claimed that she only shoved Mr Lin’s brother as he had made a vulgar hand gesture towards her and her husband first.

Both parties also accused each other of filing a police report in an attempt to complain to the police first.

Apart from that, she said she only got her husband to splash the water on the Lin brothers because they were splashed first.

Apparently, the younger Mr Lin even snatched her husband’s water pail and hit him on the back with it.

As for Mr Lin Shengke’s accusations regarding Mrs Deng talking to his sister-in-law, she denied all of them and even claimed that she had not seen Mr Lin’s sister-in-law in a very long time.

Said that Lin Brothers Cursed Her Grandson

As for her side of the story, Mrs Deng said she initially had nothing against the Lin brothers.

However, all of that changed when they started to curse her grandson.

Additionally, according to her, both parties agreed not to disturb each other after the mediation session in court.

Despite the initial agreement, Mr Lin Shengke had allegedly dragged his younger brother into the situation by getting him to “create trouble” for Mrs Deng and her family.

Based on Mrs Deng’s recount, the younger Mr Lin would make indecent gestures whenever he walked past their house and say bad things about them.

She added that she did not let her children interfere with their conflict (like what Mr Lin did with his brother) as she believes each man should be responsible for himself.

However, the brothers apparently started to curse her grandson, prompting her to retaliate.
