After more than a year of living under the shadow of a pandemic, it’s still surprising to see people not following through the most basic of precaution while out and about in public.

And no, I’m not talking about constantly squirting hand sanitizer onto your hands and rubbing them together obsessively every time you touch anything.

I’m talking about wearing a simple face mask.

Coffee Shop Stall Manager Exploded at Customer When Asked to Properly Wear His Mask

On March 28 at around 1:30pm, 25-year-old Jiang WeiJie (江伟杰), his wife, his daughter, and his father-in-law went to the nearby “Golden Taste” (金味) Coffee Shop located at Block 303 on 32 Jurong East Street for lunch.

Mr Jiang immediately noticed that the coffee shop stall manager wasn’t wearing a mask and is coughing non-stop.

Concerned for his 1-year-old daughter, he walked over to the manager and advised him to put his mask on.

However, his friendly reminder not only fell on the deaf ear; he ended up getting an earful instead.

The manager even threatened to call his “gang” over to the shop, and subsequently, he said that he’s going to call the police.

“I never thought his attitude was so bad.” Mr Jiang was quoted as saying.

The manager then left his seat at the counter and walked back to his office.

Mr Jiang followed suit, and they ended up arguing again at the office.

Undue harassment from a troublemaker

When interviewed by a reporter from LianHe WanBao (联合晚报), the coffee shop stall manager, 49-year-old Chen YunBao (陈云宝), offered his side of the story.

He claimed that he was drinking some tea at that time, and this guy suddenly came up to him demanding that he wear his mask.

Mr Chen also explained that he and Mr Jiang has had their fair share of quarrels, and that he could still remember him from past incidences.

He suspected that Mr Jiang was there to intentionally cause him some trouble on that day.

When asked about his outburst, the supervisor explained that those are only “words said in anger”.

He claimed that Mr Jiang followed him into his office to continue to berate him, and that made him angry enough to blow his top off.

In regard to the harassment he suffered, Mr Chen decided to leave it to the police, but when the police arrived, Mr Jiang has already left the premises.

The police confirmed that they have received a similar police report from the other party in the dispute.

Now that you know both sides of the story, who would you believe?
