You’re probably familiar with the “Good Morning” images sent by seniors on WhatsApp. Sometimes, they send so many that a group chat ends up being mostly just these “Good Morning” pictures.
But what do you do when someone who usually sends these messages suddenly stops?
Here’s what happened to one man in Tampines.
62-Year-Old Tampines Man Found Dead After Missing Daily “Good Morning” Messages
A 62-year-old man was found dead in his sleep at his HDB flat in Tampines Ave 49, Block 499C, on Sunday afternoon (24 November) around 2 PM.
The man, who lived alone, had a routine of sending “Good Morning” messages to his sons every day. After three days of silence since Thursday (21 November), his family grew concerned for his well-being.
One of his sons had planned to visit on Sunday afternoon, but before he could, the police contacted him with the news of his father’s passing.
The deceased had previously lived with his mother in the 12th-floor unit until her death. He had two sons who visited on weekends and a domestic helper who helped maintain the household.
On Sunday morning, the man had scheduled a meal and chat session with friends at his home. When his friends arrived, they found him lifeless and immediately called the police.
The man, who had suffered a stroke previously, purposely left his front door unlocked so that others could easily check on him.
Neighbors described him as a friendly person who often greeted them and bought treats for their children.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed that paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.
