Being a food delivery rider isn’t easy.

The amount of money they make depends on how many deliveries they can complete every day, so they have to rush from place to place under the scorching Singapore sun on their motorbikes or bicycles.

And with the recent surge in takeaway and delivery orders at eateries due to to the Covid-19 outbreak, they’ve had to endure longer wait-times, which means they’d have to work longer hours to complete their usual number of deliveries.

Even if they can live with all that, they often have to put up with annoying customers who make unreasonable demands.

Or, in this case, an inconsiderate security guard.

GrabFood Rider Claims Condo Guard ‘Toyed’ With Him

A GrabFood rider has taken to Facebook to complain about a security guard who “toyed” with him so much during a delivery that he had to throw away his customer’s food.

The rider, Kelvin, says he was making a delivery to a customer who lives in Lakeville Condominium in Jurong.

When he reached the building, he asked the security guard for directions to get to his customer’s block, but was told to find it himself.

Kelvin managed to find the block, but the intercom wasn’t working. So, he walked “many rounds” around the estate and ended up going back to the guardhouse to ask for help.

But they weren’t exactly friendly.

“One of the guard still tells me there is a side door can be open you don’t know meh?! Then expect me to go find myself again!”, Kelvin wrote.

The rider told the security guard off.

“Do I look like i stay here?! Am i a resident here?! Did you all brief me? Did you all even put signboards to guide us if u all don’t wish to brief me?!” he said.

Unsatisfied Customer, Unconsumed Food

Frustrated, Kelvin called the customer and asked her to come down to collect it, but the customer was unable to do so because she was in a meeting.

So, the customer told him to throw the food away.

As you can see, it was a McDonald’s meal.

Kelvin blamed the condo guards for his inability to deliver the food to his customer on time, calling them a “bunch of a**holes*.

But the rider felt bad for his customer, so he called Grab and asked them to deduct the amount from his own account to refund the customer.

What a nice gesture.

Kelvin said he told Grab that he’d refuse to deliver to the same condominium in the future, and Grab said they’d bar the condo from their “list”.

Kelvin felt that these security guards and many others look down on food delivery riders, treating them like they are “low class”.

He ends his post saying that all he wants to do is deliver his food to his customers and go on to his next delivery.

He warned security guards not to “toy” with him unless they are “up for the game.”

Security Guard Threw Food On the Ground

Just a couple of days ago, another rider complained about a hostile security guard at another condominium.

In that incident, the guard allegedly threw the rider’s food on the ground after she entered the premises.

He also scolded her for no reason.

Considering that these are the people who bring delicious food to our doorstep, couldn’t we treat them a little better?

If the answer is no, then you don’t deserve tasty food.
