Deck the halls indeed. It’s the season to be jolly and just a while ago I was going head on head with the sea of children at a toy sale.
I was on a personal mission to find an ever so rare Lord Of The Rings lego set. My nerd stash needed an additional touch and I was only more than willing to forage into the crowd of screaming minions.
As appealing as a bunch of lego and model kits go, there is really only one thing I want for Christmas.
All I want for Christmas is… My dad’s validation! Kidding! It be like that sometimes!
Nothing beats a little tender, love, and care from our loved ones. Beneath the commercialism, that is the spirit of Christmas after all. What is Christmas without family?
To answer your question, Christmas without family is very much like this woman’s reality.
Grandma Asks To Be a Part of Family This Christmas
A very tech-savvy senior citizen has taken it up to Craiglist to ask if anybody wanted a grandmother for Christmas.
She wrote that she did not have a family but is eager to be a part of one this Christmas.
“I cook and I can cook dinner. I’ll even bring food and gifts for the kids!” she said in her post.
If that wasn’t enough to tug a little of your heartstrings. Somebody take her in for Christmas! She’s so precious.
Taken Down After A Bunch Of Hateful Messages
The internet is harsh. Yes, it is harsh even to powerless and sweet old ladies. Shame on yourselves.
The post was deleted soon after it became the subject of overwhelming hate. Many commented saying that the woman was only taking advantage of families. They called her a scam.
She reluctantly succumbed to taking it down and thanked everyone for the “extra shot of pain”.
Good Samaritan Carson Reaches Out
A man from Oklahoma who had been surfing Craigslist stumbled upon the post. He took note of the plea saying that he did not wish for anyone to feel that way.
The man, Carson Carlock, decided to act upon the woman’s request.
He said that it reminded him very much of his departed mother. His mother had passed away from cancer. According to Carson, his mother had to spend her last Christmas alone as she was unable to travel.
On a mission to spread some holiday cheer, Carson decided to make his own Craigslist to advertise the elderly woman’s need for a family. He was also able to get in touch with her.
He found out that her name was Carrie. Despite the positive feedback from everybody on the internet, Carson said that Carrie felt reluctant to join anybody because of the hate that she had received.
The search for Carrie the grandma continues. Carson has yet to update on the current happenings. But I sure do hope he gets a hold of her.
You’re a nice man, Carson. Hats off to you!
