Now, before I say what I’m about to say, do you promise not to panic?
Reader: Of course, I’m a completely rational person.
Ok, that’s great. Have you heard of GYMBOXX?
Reader: Oh yes! I go there twice a week.
Yes, well, one of their outlets has closed temporarily after one of its members tested positive for the Covid-19 coronavirus.
Reader: *starts sweating profusely*
You’re not panicking, right?
Reader: Of course not. Uh, which branch was it?
The Bishan one.
Reader: OH MY GOD I’M GOING TO DIE PLEASE CALL MY MOTHER AND TELL HER I LOVE HER!
Now, we can’t siam not talking about this because…
GYMMBOXX Closes Bishan Outlet Temporarily After One Member Who Visited 2 Weeks Ago Diagnosed With Covid-19
As previously mentioned, local gym GYMMBOXX has closed their Bishan outlet temporarily after a member tested positive for the Covid-19 virus on Saturday (22 Feb) night.
The gym confirmed this in a Facebook post, saying they had received a call from the Ministry of Health (MOH).
After getting confirmation from MOH about one of its members testing positive for the coronavirus, the management immediately closed the outlet for disinfection.
Member Last Visited Gym on 6 Feb
As I said, there’s no need to panic, especially since the member last visited the gym on 6 Feb.
So if you’ve been to the gym in the last two weeks, there’s probably nothing to worry about.
The said member only tested positive for the virus on Saturday night (22 Feb).
First noticed symptoms on 3 Feb
The GYMMBOXX member, a 41-year-old Permanent Resident (PR), was one of three confirmed cases on 22 Feb. How he contracted the disease remains unknown.
The man first noticed symptoms on 3 Feb, after which he visited a general practitioner (GP) the same day.
He had sought treatment again on 7, 10, 17 and 21 Feb, at two different GP clinics.
And since he visited the gym on 6 Feb, that means he only visited the gym once since developing symptoms.
Though one wonders why he went to the gym even though he was feeling sick.
Doctors later referred him to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) on 21 Feb, and he tested positive for the Covid-19 virus the next morning (22 Feb).
He is currently in an isolation ward in NCID.
Don’t Panic
As we previously said, an area with an infected case is one of the cleanest places you can go to, so there’s nothing to worry about if you’re thinking of avoiding GYMMBOXX’s Bishan outlet like the plague.
But since it’s currently closed, of course, so you should stay away for now and go to other gym.
And remember: if you’re feeling unwell, please see a doctor and stay at home. And no matter how much you want your biceps to rip through your sleeves, please avoid going out if you are sick.
