Peking Duck – 2 styles

Here, one of the signature dishes at House of Roasted Duck would be their Signature Peking Duck and Peking Duck in 2 ways where you can enjoy the best of both worlds!

The Peking Duck is first sliced into perfectly thin slices with minimal meat, then wrapped in hand-made flour crepe and enjoyed together with their special dipping sauce for the full wow.

The Crispy Roasted Duck, on the other hand, is sliced in a way that it is more abundant with meat and paired with their homemade dipping sauce. We were told that their crispy roasted duck is so well-loved by the crowd that a range of 30-40 roasted ducks is sold out on a daily basis!

Another limelight of the night was the Four Heavenly Kings Platter which consists of 4 of their signature roasted delights – Crispy Roasted Duck, Soy Sauce Chicken, Barbecued Pork and Crispy Roasted Pork – allowing you to satisfy all your cravings in one serving. This dish was so popular among the bloggers that it was wiped clean within seconds! My favorite of the lot would definitely be the soy sauce chicken, a classic Cantonese dish which was braised using a special mix of herb and spices together with premium stewed soy sauce to achieve the perfect melt-in-your-mouth textures. The other dish that stood out was the crispy roasted pork, as there is nothing more gratifying than biting into the fusion of the crisp pork skin and tender belly meat.

And how can we forget fried rice when it comes to Cantonese cuisine? The Fried Rice with Diced Duck and Egg shifts away from the ubiquitous fried rice and is bound to delight your taste buds with its distinctive “wok-hei” flavor.

Other than rice dishes, patrons can also opt for the Shrimp Dumpling Noodle (S$6.80 for the soup version and S$7.80 for the dry version), packed with plump dumplings that are amply stuffed with shrimp and pieces of pork and strips of black fungus for that delectable crunch. The soup base is also boiled for 5-6 hours with a mix of premium pork bones and old chicken, paired with springy wanton noodles and their homemade chilli sauce!

And of course, Congee for all congee lovers! Their Congee with Roasted Duck is prepared using premium Calrose rice from Australia and fresh ingredients, slow-cooked over a small fire of 3-4 hours to achieve its perfectly smooth texture. For those who are craving for something more substantial, you can also add abalone into your bowl of congee to hype things up a little!

Since we were all so impressed by the food served, we also had to take a few picks from their Dim Sum menu. Sure enough, we were not disappointed! One of the main highlights was the Steamed Stew Mai with Tobiko. The Siew Mais were packed with fresh plump prawns and stuffed with pieces of pork before being topped it off with a generous morsel of tobiko.

Since we were already on this topic of roasted duck, here are also 5 unique ways which you can enjoy your roasted / Peking duck meat!

Rather than having it the traditional way, why not have it atop some homemade Belgium waffles? Heck, you can even top it off with a raspberry sorbet ice cream and fruits to get a unique balance of sweet and savoury flavours!

2) Toasted Bread

Rather than having the plain old, boring kaya toast for breakfast, why not take the chance to add in some roasted / Peking duck meat too? Just like adding Bak Kwa in between the toasted bread, I would certainly love to savour the added crunch in my kaya toast in the mornings for an additional perk me up!

3) Lettuce Wraps

Now, you don’t have to specially go for a KBBQ meal to indulge in these satisfying and addictive lettuce wraps, but can also prepare them at home at the snap of your fingers! Plus, they’re healthy and a tastier alternative to salads. Simply prepare a fresh piece of lettuce, place a slice of Peking duck meat, a small dollop of kimchi (optional), accompanying sauces and you’re in for a healthy treat!

4) Roasted Duck Curry

Nope, I’m not saying that you have to specifically prepare your very own puff pastry. Since croissants are widely available at most supermarkets, you can just bag them home and create your very own croissant sandwiches! Just slice them up, place a few pieces of roasted duck meat, mayonnaise and greens in between and you are good to go!
