As I was on my 2-hour lunch break, as one does on a Friday, I came across something that will make every millennial scream.
For those who don’t believe in carrying cold hard cash—just like me—listen up.
NETS service is temporarily down, as mentioned in a Facebook post by NETS an hour ago today.
If you can’t read:
NETS would like to inform our merchants and consumers that all NETS services are temporarily unavailable. NETS users will not be able to perform any NETS Transactions (including point-of-sales transactions and top up services) for the time being.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused and are working to restore services as soon as possible.
And when I was about to send it to my editor, there was another FB post by NETS.
And as of writing time (3:17 P.M.), they mentioned that their service is up and running again.
If you can’t read:
Thank you for your patience. All NETS services (including top-up services) are now restored and consumers are able to make NETS transactions and at all NETS acceptance points.
And there was one netizen who left this comment:
So, the service was down for about an hour, and this poor chap was “trapped” in a car park as he couldn’t top up his cash card.
During the downtime, there would be error messages such as “No reply from bank” and “Declined”.
Pretty sure that would have made some people go apeshit, because the last I know (I might be wrong), “Declined” is usually for accounts that has…not enough cash in the bank account #justsaying
NETS is founded in 1985 by local banks to encourage e-payment.
As of now, there has been no update on why the downtime has occurred.
So what is the moral of this story?
