Do you enjoy Karaoke?
Reader: Yes!
Would you like to have a KTV session with your friends?
Reader: Definitely, yes!
WELL, THERE’S A DISEASE SPREADING OUT THERE SO STAY AT HOME AND SING IN YOUR DAMN SHOWER.
Reader: *starts crying* Why are you so mean?
I do apologise, dear reader. Now, while I wasn’t kidding about the staying at home part, you’ll be happy to know that you can still have a KTV session without even leaving your house.
Creative S’pore KTV Rents & Delivers Karaoke Machine To Customers’ Homes After Store Visits Drop
The Covid-19 outbreak has made many of us wary of going to crowded or popular places, and understandably so.
This includes going to KTV outlets, the one activity that every Singaporean is biologically programmed to love.
That’s why local KTV chain HaveFun Karaoke is offering a rental service for a KTV party in your house!
This means that you can sing your heart out to your favourite Ed Sheeran song in the comfort of your own home.
And yes, there will also be booze.
A portable entertainment hub
According to AsiaOne, the programme was launched on 15 Feb. The package comes with two wireless microphones and the KBar System, an all-in-one device that’s capable of literally tearing the roof off with its booming stereo speakers.
But how does it work?
The great thing about this is that you don’t even need a TV because it comes with a built-in LCD touchscreen.
The machine is a portable entertainment hub that has a local song library of 50,000 songs. All you have to do is to connect it to your house wifi and it’ll have access to 300,000 songs in the cloud library so you can access songs that aren’t so mainstream.
According to AsiaOne, the interface is similar to the ones you get at HaveFun Karaoke’s many outlets.
It’s easy to use, and you can even hook it up to your phone so you can navigate it using the HaveFun Karaoke app.
But if you’re as bad with technology as your grandfather is, the package also comes with an installation service; the delivery guys will help you set everything up and show you how to use their system.
Price
Now, here comes the bad news.
It is not cheap.

It costs $288 to have the KBar System for two days, but it comes with two bottles of hard liquor of your choice. (If you pay more you could get fancier options like Hennesy and Macallan)
Yes, it is expensive. But can you really put a price on happiness?
Reader: Uh yes, I’d rather be sad.
OK, fair enough. But if you rent the machine for just a day, then it only costs $99, which isn’t too bad if you share it with 99 friends.
Or, if you’re a rich kid reading this article while chilling in a jacuzzi inside your mansion, you could also pay $428 for a week’s rental and two bottles of alcohol.
Sales dropped due to Covid-19
Speaking about the new home package, founder Flint Lu said that the outbreak was one of the biggest reasons they started the initiative.
“HaveFun’s four existing outlets’ sales dramatically dropped due to the Covid-19 virus, and we are not the only ones affected by it,” he explained to AsiaOne.
“Rather than rely on the landlord’s rental discount or a government handout, we’d rather find a way out ourselves.”
They’re also taking extra precautions in light of the Covid-19 outbreak.
“After each usage, our KBar systems are thoroughly sanitised using 70 per cent alcohol content sanitising solutions, while our microphones undergo an ultraviolet light sanitation process,” he said.
Now, you may be surprised to know that there’s been a consistent demand for the home packages, especially for those holding private parties and events at condominium function rooms and chalets.
The most popular package, however, has been the two-day option.
So, if you’re dying to sing away your blues and willing to fork out some cash to have a KTV experience in your own home, check out their packages now!
