Sometimes, when life gets tough, all you want to do is swig down some satisfying alcohol.
Okay, maybe it’s not necessarily the alcohol you want, but the inebriated state you get from it to forget all your problems.
It’s what you do when you’re drunk that makes all the difference, though.
Some call their exes, some fall asleep in the middle of the street, and some rant about conspiracy theories.
Others, like this man, even resort to hurling furniture off buildings.
Drunk Man Causes Scene At Hawker Centre
On 12 September, Sunday, hawker-goers found their Sunday morning routines disturbed by drunken acts of killer litter, as reported by Lianhe Zaobao.
A middle-aged man visited Hong Lim Hawker Centre at around 11am that morning, but he wasn’t there to buy breakfast.
Instead, he made a scene as he shouted outside the hawker centre, apparently wanting to look for someone.
Yet, he was unable to articulate who he was looking for, or where the person was, appearing to be very drunk at the time, according to witnesses.
He was also waving around an empty wine bottle in his hand.
Eventually, the Safe Entry personnel present had to control the situation and told the man to go upstairs and find who he was looking for instead of disrupting the peace there.
The man actually listened and made his way up via the lift.
Onlookers then went back to their business as they thought the drama would be over – but boy, were they wrong.
Dustbin And Chair Came Flying
Hey, look at that – is it a bird? Or is it a plane?
Nope, it’s just a flying chair. Oh, and a dustbin.
Shortly after the man went upstairs, a loud noise erupted.
A chair had fallen from the upper floors of the building and landed on the floor outside the hawker centre, breaking and denting on impact.
Not even offering onlookers the time to get over the shock, a huge green dustbin also followed the chair down with a crash.
Considering that many people were walking in and out of the hawker centre at the time, it was a relief that the projectiles did not hit or injure anyone.
One of the shop assistants working in the hawker centre, 65-year-old Ms Zhu, came out to direct patrons away from the path of the falling objects for everyone’s safety, as there were also children around.
Although it was unclear which level the items fell from and who actually threw them, many suspected it was the man from earlier causing trouble again.
Some onlookers also called the police at this time in fear that the situation may escalate.
Just who was the mystery person he looking for?
Tried To Avoid The Police
When the police arrived, they began questioning witnesses at the scene to make sense of the situation, thinking the perpetrator had left.
What’s the best way to hide? In plain sight, of course.
Despite the police still present at the scene, the man suddenly exited from the lift on the first floor.
Perhaps he had sobered up, for he attempted to act natural and walk away upon seeing the police, hoping they wouldn’t flag him as someone sus.
Unfortunately for him, the onlookers were able to recognise him and pointed him out.
He was arrested after violently struggling against the police, who later confirmed that the 42-year-old got arrested on grounds of acting recklessly, insulting civil servants and using criminal violence to disrupt them from official duties.
Investigations are still ongoing.
