A Hua Yi Secondary School student was filmed climbing onto a temporary sheltered walkway roof before jumping onto a grass patch in a video that circulated online.
The 1 minute 19 second clip was uploaded to Reddit community r/SMRTRabak on 25 August 2026 with the caption “our students nowadays cannot siah”.
The student’s face was not identified. In the video, several students can be seen watching and filming as he climbs onto the metal roof.
The school later confirmed that the student is safe.
Students Told Him Not To Jump
In the video, an older-sounding male voice speaking in Chinese can be heard reprimanding the students and telling them not to play this way.
The person asks who would be responsible if the student got hurt and repeatedly tells him to come back, saying he should not jump.
The student says he wants to try it at least once in his life.
Other students continue encouraging him to jump.
While sitting near the edge of the roof with his legs dangling, he smiles towards the camera and jokes that he is starting to regret his decision.
The students then make jokes about school results, including asking if they had passed Science and whether they were among the A1 scorers.
The student eventually lifts himself with his arms and tumbles from the roof onto the grass below.
Someone then helps him sit on the grass, although it is unclear who the person was.
School Says Students Were Counselled
The video was later recirculated by Instagram page singapura.legends on 30 August 2026, showing the student wearing a school uniform. Some people in the video can be heard shouting for him to jump.
Hua Yi Secondary School principal told Stomp on 31 August that the school is aware of the incident and that the student is safe.
The principal said the school takes the safety and well-being of students seriously. All students involved have been counselled and their parents have been engaged.
The school also said the sheltered walkway was temporarily installed because of construction works and has since been removed.
