In a time not too long ago, there once stood i12 Katong.

Making its debut back in 2011, the smaller-sized mall was usually a haunt for people stopping for activities such as a movie at Golden Village.

But in March 2020, the mall was closed for renovations and set to re-open in 2021.

The awaited revamp was promised to  “capture charm and character of Katong”, along with upgrading existing areas inside.

And lo and behold, how a year has passed by not-so-quickly (no thanks to COVID-19) and reopening draws ever closer.

However, it’s not going to be that soon.

This would take place sometime around the fourth quarter this year.

It’ll be located at 112 E Coast Rd, Singapore 428802.

Moreover, there’ll also be a whole host of new tenants coming in as well!

These include:

  • Climb Asia
  • Guzman Y Gomez
  • Kindermusik With Love Studios
  • Malaysia Boleh
  • PS Café
  • Signature KOI
  • We are Sultans
  • Scoop Wholefoods

This comes in tandem with previous tenants like CS Fresh, United World Preschool, Wine Connection and Golden Village.

And speaking of the latter, GV Katong is also going to be the first where people can supposedly enjoy other “lifestyle activities” there too.

The Gold Class theatre makes a return as well, though you’ve got to admit that with safe distancing, normal seats in any theatre nowadays feel like a Gold Class seat.

Mr Andy Tan, the Climb Asia Group’s director, said the company plans to introduce new climbing elements at its new i12 Katong facility that are family-oriented and for all ages.

Upgrades To The Mall

The mall also sees a whole new range of upgrades.

The revamped mall can hold up to roughly 180 speciality, F&B and retail stores.

It’ll have vehicle charging points at the car park, more lifts and escalators, a children’s play area, mobile charging stations and new nursing rooms.

The main atrium will also be expanded and relocated to level 1.

Developer Keppel Land also said, “i12 Katong will be a showcase of new retail concepts developed through a design-thinking process which will add new dimensions beyond the conventional role of malls and alleviate physical space constraints”.

The mall will also contain a Fashion Lifestyle, Home and Living, and Family Entertainment zone.

Additional information on the revamped mall will come later this year.

It’s going to take a little more time but at least that’s one more thing to look forward to!

Until then, you can check back at their website and social media for any potential updates.
