If there’s something you need in your house or stomach, IKEA will probably have it.

A haven for new homeowners and hell for couples, the Swedish megastore sells everything from plates and silverware to furniture and stuffed toys.

And it also satisfies the taste buds of residents with its juicy meatballs, cheap hotdogs, and famous Daim cake.

The store also sells other arbitrary items like a cat house on legs and Swedish card games.

Now, if you want the rest of the world to know how much you love IKEA, you can become a walking advertisement for the store.

IKEA is bringing its first-ever clothing line to its Singapore stores on 10 Dec 2020!

First launched in Japan in July, the EFTERTRÄDA collection was a collaboration between IKEA Japan and the Swedish conglomerate, inspired by trendsetters in Tokyo wearing unofficial IKEA merch.

“Unlike our usual catalogue, the Efterträda lookbook takes an unfiltered look at the small space living of young, fashionable Tokyoites,” IKEA said.

Products from the EFTERTRÄDA line, which is Swedish for ‘successor’, will be available for purchase from 10 Dec in IKEA stores and from 17 Dec on their online stores.

The collection will include T-shirts, hoodies, beach towels, foldable umbrellas, tote bags, and even water bottles.

Prices start from S$3.90.

The T-shirt comes with a rather simple design: it’s plain white, and the only embellishment is an IKEA logo in the centre, with the caption “Design and Quality IKEA of Sweden”.

Another design, which uses the same plain white T-shirt, has a barcode in place of the IKEA logo.

The same design is available on a hoodie too. The barcode, of course, comes from its iconic Billy shelving system.

As you can see, even their clothing line was made with their trademark minimalist beliefs in mind, as the products are as simple as their furniture.

As IKEA said, the EFTERTRÄDA collection mirrors its approach to home-furnishing, “with simple, everyday takes on clothes and accessories”.

The same minimalist design was used for other products in the EFTERTRÄDA collection, including the beach towel, tote bag, water bottle, and foldable umbrella.

IKEA said it would share more details soon, and said the collection is set to be expanded further in the future.
