Online shopping’s all the craze nowadays.
You can get food, clothes, necessities and pretty much everything with just a click of your mouse, and your card will do the rest.
Aside from being convenient and practically effortless, it also saves you a great deal of trouble.
So it stands to reason that production companies would want a slice of it, seeing how lucrative and expansive the online market is.
Introducing IKEA, the latest one to hop on the bandwagon.
Pretty soon, in October 2017, there will be an online shopping and delivery service for Singapore and Malaysia!
According to IKEA Southeast Asia managing director Christian Rojkjaer, the e-commerce service will be launched in Singapore in the next two weeks, while it will be pushed out in Malaysia by next year.
“We’re currently in a testing phase in Singapore as we want to provide a quality experience for our customers. For Malaysia, we are currently in the development stages and we look forward to sharing more when we enter the testing phase next year,” a spokesperson from IKEA told A+M.
What will it look like?
If we use the e-commerce service in Australia as reference, our own one will probably look something like this.
Do you know what that means? No more road trips to IKEA Alexandra and IKEA Tampines just to get your furniture. You just have to kick back, relax and scroll through the menu, and the items will drop by in a few days. No sweat. No bus fares.
And we can even get their swedish meatballs and chicken wings too! How cool is that-
NEWSFLASH
We have received news that they are not offering food delivery services.
Yet.
MY MEATBALLSSSS!!!
IKEA Penang
For the Malaysians, don’t hide in a corner and cry just because your dear furniture proprietor’s taking a while to get their online services up and running in your country.
If you weren’t aware, IKEA Penang is expected to open for public in the first quarter of 2019.
The Swedish retailer were so desperate for this particular outlet to succeed that they have invested a whopping RM600 million in the store, in order to have it “provide the very best IKEA experience”.
And there are plans to invest a further RM900 million in Malaysia too, so… wow!
Thoughts
To IKEA:
Furniture delivery’s good and all but…
What about the food?
Please incorporate it into the menu too, IKEA. Do that and I will rate you even higher than FoodPanda.
After all, you can’t shop for furniture without a few meatballs on the side!
