We Singaporeans should really spend more time praying.

Because the Indonesia health minister just defended the country’s detection method, and the reason for the lack of any COVID-19 case in the country so far?

Reader Bao: Is it because it’s super hot there?

No, Mr Bao. You still didn’t read the headline before coming in.

Here’s the holy answer: It’s because of God.

China now has a whopping 78,514 confirmed cases, India has 3 while the US has 60.

Indonesia?

Zero.

From what I see, people in India must’ve prayed a lot as well.

It’s revealed today that out of all the 134 test samples taken from suspect cases in Indonesia, all of them turned out negative.

And Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto has this to say to reporters: “If until this second all came out negative, then it’s a blessing from the Almighty.”

Apparently, a study that hasn’t been peer-reviewed by researchers at the Harvard T H Chan School of Public Health claims that Indonesia “should have at least some confirmed cases given the high number of passengers who routinely fly to the country from Wuhan, the Chinese city at the epicenter of the outbreak.”

A study that hasn’t been peer-reviewed is usually published in general magazines or trade journals, and not in scholarly journals yet.

Indonesia Health Ministry has rubbished the study, saying that it’s “only a model”.

Nevertheless, the World Health Organization’s Indonesia representative has claimed that WHO was “quite confident that Indonesia is ready to be able to respond to this situation”.
