Normally, when someone says something good about your country, you’ll just smile and nod. For the more chatty ones(like me), you might even tell them more about your country.
You know, kinda like a cultural exchange of sorts.
Now, for Singaporeans, I think we like it when people praise us for our food and our airport. After all, who doesn’t like praises, right?

Like, it’s one of those moments where you wanna say something but somehow have no idea where to begin.
Just let me say this.
Singapore as the number 1 travel destination for 2018? Whodathunk?
As a backpacker, I’ve been to a quite a few countries. However, Singapore as a number 1 travel destination? I really don’t think so.

To me, Singapore is neither horrible nor great. Hey, I’m really flattered that Singapore is being featured though.
Scrolling through the comments on Facebook, we can see many people voicing out their views on the matter.
Yeap, whether a place is number 1 or not is a subjective matter. To us Singaporeans, Singapore may be a boring and suffocating cosmopolitan.

However, to someone who has never been here, Singapore might be a really interesting place.
When I was in China, I was travelling with a group of Backpackers from Iceland. They were so amazed by Singapore’s history and culture that one of them started searching for info about Singapore online!
They were so interested that we spent the entire bus trip(2 hours, if I recall) talking about Singapore.
To be honest, I felt really proud of my own country. I mean, people are actually interested in Singapore!
That being said, let’s just be glad that Singapore’s being listed on someone’s bucket list!
