Before I go on, let me say that I am merely the messenger and that I take no pleasure in this task.

Reader: Uh, ok…

So, I’m asking you not to freak out or take your anger out on me, no matter how furious you are.

Reader: Please, I’m a Goody Feed reader; of course I’m rational. I promise not to freak out.

You sure?

Reader: I’m sure.

Ok, so this Japanese food place has closed down because-

Reader: WHY HAVE YOU DONE THIS TO ME? YOU SHOULD FEEL NOTHING BUT SHAME FOR TAKING AWAY ALL MY HAPPINESS IN LIFE! I AM NEVER READING GOODY FEED AGAIN!

I really need a career change.

Isetan Japan Food Town Closed Due To Payment Issues

Japan Food Town, the cluster of Japanese restaurants on the fourth floor of the Isetan department store at Wisma Atria, closed down on Feb 29, to the dismay of food lovers all over the country.

Isetan issued a notice to quit to the Japan Food Town Development for non-payment of certain sums.

According to The Straits Times, the termination of tenancy was with immediate effect, and Isetan will exercise its right of re-entry to the premises on 29 Feb.

Basically, if Isetan were a dog, it’d be going to the premises and peeing all over it to mark its territory.

Opened in 2016

As your mouth probably remembers, the $8.5 million Japan Food Town opened in 2016.

The 20,075 square feet food hall on the 4th level of Isetan Singapore at Wisma Atria was home to 16 restaurants, with a wide variety of Japanese dishes to choose from.

Unlike many Japanese restaurants in Singapore, Japan Food Town provided a taste of authentic Japanese cuisine, so much so that many Japanese locals patronised the food haven.

In an interview with The Straits Times in 2016, Japan Food Town’s managing director, Mr Makoto Yoshikawa, said that despite the competitive Japanese food scene in Singapore, they were in it “for the long haul” and were “committed” to making it a success.

It’s such a shame that it had to end this way.

Goodbye my sushi, goodbye my miso soup, you have been the one. You have been the one for me.
