If you’re a Jay Chou fan, you’ll know that whenever you go to Taipei, you must visit his restaurant, Mr J French-Italian Restaurant.
Unfortunately, if this is on your bucket list and you would’ve been there if not for the Covid-19 outbreak, I’ve got bad news for you.
You’ll never be able to do so after 31 May.
Jay Chou’s Restaurant Closing on 31 May After Being Hit Hard by COVID-19
Mr J French-Italian Restaurant has announced that its last day of operations will be on 31 May 2020.
And the reason for closing?
Probably the same as hundreds of thousands of businesses out there: Covid-19.
In a Facebook post, the restaurant said that they are closing down due to the ending of their lease.
They hope that customers will visit them for one last meal but reminded them about the safe distancing measures in place.
Located at Taipei Medical Campus, customers who want to dine at the restaurant must inform the campus guards.
The restaurant will send staff out to the gate to personally escort them to the restaurant.
Featured In ‘Secret’ Jay Chou’s Movie
Remember this movie?
The eatery was featured in the movie and has many iconic items that were shown in the movie, including the distinctive piano and the desk.
Jay Chou’s songs are also played in the background and he always holds his celebration at the eatery whenever he won awards.
Just like Secret, it seems this restaurant will forever remain a fond memory in the megastar’s fans’ hearts.
Liang Sandwich Bar Still Closed
Meanwhile, Liang Sandwich Bar, the iconic meat-filled prata that drew huge crowds when it first arrived in Singapore, has not reopened for business yet.
Although that seems like a pretty smart choice if you ask me.
Previously, Liang Sandwich Bar made a big hoo-ha when they suddenly closed and disappeared from the streets of Singapore.
Then an even bigger hoo-ha was created when the master franchisee in Taiwan said that franchisee in Singapore had done so without permission from them.
They assured Singaporeans that they will be back, and plans are “on track” for them to start serving customers again in Q4 2020.
That was the last anybody heard of Liang Sandwich Bar, which will now be known as Liang Crispy Rolls.
Whether they’ll be back in Q4 or not remains to be seen.
But here’s a question for you:
Are you excited for the return of what is said as the favourite food of Jay Chou?
