Recently, he was on a Channel 8 programme, A Conversation with Minister 2021 where he update his audience about his life.
Kelvin Tan’s Life Update
In the programme, Kelvin revealed that he has applied for an HDB flat. He has also got a full-time job at the Singapore Association Of The Visually Handicapped (SAVH) so that his housing loan will be approved.
Previously, he was a telemarketer and customer service personnel, and had been working at these jobs to pay the bills.
He will also be married next year before he takes his keys. Despite the pandemic, Kelvin is happy to be married for that would mean a smaller event and less guests.
His current priority in life has shifted to be more family-oriented.
Kelvin revealed that when he was younger, he did not find that money was important. It has since changed ever since everything is getting more expensive here.

How Did Kelvin Adapt to COVID-19?
Ever since Kelvin secured a full-time job, he felt more stable in life. He said that the pandemic has not affected him due to his job’s stability.
Instead, what affected him was the need to check in everywhere using TraceTogether. As you know, to check in to a shopping mall, you have to scan a QR code of the location.
However, as a visually impaired person, he can’t see the QR code. He mentioned that some places allow him to tap the SafeEntry Gateway device but not all places have that.
Looks like some improvement is needed in our system.
