It’s going to be a pretty teary day for adoring fans of Kimye because Kimye is no more.

As of today, superstars Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have filed for divorce, ending the union of one of the most interesting celebrity power-couples in Hollywood.

But if you’re new to the power couple, here’s how they got started.

It Started with a Song

It all started when reality TV star, Kim Kardashian from Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and rap superstar-slash-designer, Kanye West, made headlines when Kanye rapped his heart out in his song, “Cold”, and admitted to falling in love with Kim Kardashian from afar after almost a decade of friendship.

That’s the time when rumours of them hooking up swirled into a thunderstorm of speculations and paparazzi moments as they played coy about their relationship status and yet appeared on public events together.

However, the real bombshell was dropped back in December of 2012 when both Kim and Kanye, affectionately known together as “Kimye”, announced that they were expecting a child.

Of course, who could ever forget the headlines when the world found out what the baby girl is called… she’s called “North”, as in “North West”. We’re not kidding… that’s actually their firstborn’s full name!

Oh, and a little fun fact for the masses, North West doesn’t have a middle name.

Besides the 6-year-old, they also have 3 more children, Saint (boy, 4 years old), Chicago (girl, 3 years old), and the latest addition, a 2-year-old toddler named “Psalm”… and yes, that same “psalm” you see in the bible.

No happy ending for Kimye

Unfortunately, it seems like not everything’s rainbows and unicorns in Kimye’s household. After almost 7 years of marriage, Kim Kardashian has decided to file for divorce.

The divorce was said to be “as amicable as a divorce can be” according to an undisclosed source on celebrity magazine, TMZ, and that both Kim and Kanye agreed with a joint legal and physical custody arrangement for their 4 children.

Apparently, they are committed to co-parent the kids together.

There’s also a prenup involved, but unlike the incredibly-messy and virally-public divorce that Lamar Odom and sis, Khloe Kardashian, went through, thankfully, Kim and Kanye aren’t contesting it.

Kanye is Off His Meds, Literally

According to multiple sources as revealed by TMZ, Kim Kardashian seems to be greatly affected by what was Kanye’s bipolar episode.

Just to refresh your memory of late 2020, Kanye did and said a whole bunch of downright weird stuff as a result of a severe bipolar episode, a medical condition that usually seems to affect the rapper once a year.

And lest you didn’t already know from the headline, Kanye also ran for President last year, and garnered over 60k votes.

In another universe, perhaps the headline would be “First Lady of United States Officially Files for Divorce from President West.”

That would be…Cold.
