If you have been paying attention to local news and happenings, I’m fairly certain you would’ve come across this article about a 28-year-old marketing consultant cum freelance model passing away after a trip to the KTV with her friends.

According to straitstimes, the model, Karen Stella Wong, was complaining about numbness in half of her body and a headache during the karaoke session on 12 Dec.

Miss Karen Stella Wong was sent to Singapore General Hospital and went into a coma soon after. She passed away three days later.

Mr Laurence Wong, the father of the deceased, said that she passed away due to an acute intracerebral haemorrhage. It’s a situation where bleeding occurs within the brain tissue or ventricles.

Contrary to popular belief, she did not die due to singing in a too-high-pitched voice, as claimed by Mr Laurence Wong.

Mr Laurence Wong also added that his daughter had no known medical history.

“My family has no history of acute intracerebral haemorrhage. Once in a while she got a headache like normal people do,” said Mr Laurence Wong.

“The SGH doctor said that even a common headache could be a symptom, but no doctor would ask a normal guy with a headache to go for a scan.”

Mr Laurence Wong also said he was surprised when he found out that his daughter had to donate her organs under the law.

“I heard they managed to do transplants on three patients, and I feel it’s a blessing that at least she can save three people,” said Mr Laurence Wong.

Miss Karen Stella Wong was cremated on 20 Dec.

I’m glad that her father is able to look on the bright side of things. Even though he had lost his daughter, he took comfort in knowing that his daughter’s organs can be used to save more lives.

I’m not sure if I would be able to take it if something similar were to happen to me.

That being said, please treasure every single moment with your loved ones. We’ll never know when our time will run out.
