Lady Robbed and Beat Up By 20-Year-Old at Punggol In Broad Daylight, 20YO Suspect Arrested

Singapore is known as a safe city where you can return home at 3 am and live to see another day.

I mean, that’s why we’re known as a safe city-state where the leaders of the US and North Korea met for the very first time.

But at the same time, the Singapore Police Force has been cautioning the public: low crime doesn’t mean no crime.

Just because Singapore’s safe doesn’t mean you should stop being aware of your surroundings.

Nor does it mean that nothing bad ever takes place here.

For example, a daylight robbery.

Woman in Punggol Beaten Up And Robbed In Broad Daylight

According to a Straits Times report, a robbery happened on 18 Oct at around 2 pm at Waterway Cascadia, Blk 315A Punggol Way.

A man attacked a woman in broad daylight and beat her up before running away with one set of keys

A neighbour had heard a woman’s cries for help and ran over to see what’s going on.

She arrived to find the woman injured.

She had bruises on her face, with a swollen right eye and the left side of her head had to be bandaged.

Officers Managed To Track Down Suspect & Arrested Him At Yishun

Police officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division got to work and quickly established the identity of the man.

On the same day at around 5.45 pm, they arrested the 20-year-old suspect at Yishun Ave 11.

He was arrested for robbery with hurt, and if found guilty, could be jailed between five and twenty years with at least 12 strokes of the cane.

Ouch.

This comes after a daring housebreaking committed by a group of six teenagers just a few days ago.

Injured Teen Repaid Kind Auntie Who Helped Him By Robbing Her

On 15 Oct, a teenager with a bleeding leg entered Madam Irene Yeo’s shop on Chander Road. As Mdm Yeo was distracted taking care of his injury, his two friends stole bottles of alcohol from the shop.

She only discovered what happened after they’ve left the shop. But the teen eventually returned the stolen goods after she called him on his phone.

The next day, when her brother came to open up the shop the next day, they realised they were robbed in the middle of the night.

Cash, alcohol and cigarettes were spirited away in the middle of the night. And the police discovered that some of the burglars were the same people from the earlier incident.

The kind auntie felt “betrayed” and “wished she didn’t give them a second chance”.

Moral of the Story:

The police would like to remind the public that we should remain alert and attentive to our surroundings.

They also asked for the public to avoid wearing too much jewellery or carry a large amount of cash.

Should anything happen, be sure to have a shrill alarm with you to either scare off the culprit or call for help.
