Do you remember the last time you counted down to New Year’s Day with your friends?

Yea, you probably don’t, because we were in lockdown for like a billion years.

Well, this year, you can finally look forward to that faint memory again (if you have friends, that is).

In support of the countdown, SBS Transit has announced the extension of their last bus and train timings for Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Last Train Timings

SMRT train services on the North-South Line, East-West Line, Circle Line, and Thomson-East Coast Line will be extended for commuters on 24 December and 31 December 2022.

If you’re like me and recognise the lines by colour, they are the red line, green line, orange line (not yellow), and the new brown line.

A few exceptions include the Bukit Panjang LRT service and Changi Airport service, which will see no extension in train timings.

The SBS Transit trains (yes, not all the trains belong to one company), namely the North East and Downtown lines (purple and blue), as well as the Sengkang and Punggol LRT systems will also push back their last train times.

Train services on those lines will be extended by about one and a half hours on 24 December and about two and a half hours on 31 December.

You now know when the last trains and buses will stop services. If you don’t go for countdown, then won’t the time extension go to waste?

Apart from going to your friends’ house, why not go to these places.

Firstly, Marina Bay Sands. MBS boasts a breathtaking fireworks display at their New Year’s Countdown. For IG-worthy pics, be sure to head down and join the crowd.

Next, the Esplanade. From here, you can enjoy the fireworks display as well. Not to mention the array of cafes and restaurants that you can dine at during the countdown.

Lastly, the Singapore Flyer. What better way to start the year in the air. You can look forward to the scenic view of the city while enjoying the tranquility in the sky. What’s not to enjoy?
