Out late for reunion dinners this CNY Eve (28 January)? Well, you’ll be happy to know that you won’t have to spend all your ang bao money on a Grab ride home afterwards — the last train and bus timings will be extended during CNY eve.
Here’s the ultimate guide to all the extended last bus and train timings this CNY eve.
Extended Last Train Timings: NSL, EWL, CCL, TEL, NEL, DTL
Let’s start first with the extended last train timings. If you’re a true blue Singaporean, you should already know by now that there are six MRT lines in Singapore — the North-South Line (NSL), East-West Line (EWL), Circle Line (CCL), Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL), North-East Line (NEL), and Downtown Line (DTL).
The good news for you is this — all six MRT lines will be extending their last train timings. No matter where you stay on our sunny island (nowadays, rainy lah…), you’ll get the benefit of an extended last train timing.
So, this CNY eve, if your relative uses the excuse of “eh sorry I need to rush for last train” when it’s only 12 am, you know whose ang bao you should put $1 or a chocolate coin in.
Those taking the EWL can expect their last train departing from City Hall, terminating at Pasir Ris, to leave at 2:14 am. The last train departing from City Hall, terminating at Tuas Link, will leave at 1:59 am.
Unfortunately, if you’re headed to Jewel on CNY eve and have to head back to the “normal” EWL to go home, you’ll have to catch the usual last train timing from Changi Airport MRT station. The Changi Airport service (which takes you from Changi Airport MRT to Expo MRT, before rejoining the “normal” EWL at Tanah Merah MRT) will not be extended on CNY eve.
For those of you who live in the “ghettos” of Singapore like Yishun and have no choice but to take the NSL, your last train departing from City Hall, terminating at Jurong East, will leave at 2:09 am. The train terminating at Marina South Pier will depart City Hall at 1:54 am.
If you’re staying along the CCL, all we can say is this: “Stay along CCL, still need to take train meh? Where’s your Mercs or BMW?”
We’re kidding lah, here are your last train timings. For the CCL, the last train departing from Dhoby Ghaut and terminating at Harbourfront will leave at 1:28 am. The last train departing from Harbourfront and terminating at Dhoby Ghaut will leave at 1:15 am.
Slightly earlier than the NSL and EWL last train timings, because if you’re staying along the CCL, you should be able to afford the last-minute Grab ride home lah, hor?
For those staying along the TEL, the last train departing from Woodlands North, terminating at Bayshore, will leave at 1:30 am. On the other end of the TEL, the last train departing from Bayshore, terminating at Woodlands North, will leave at 1:42 am.
Last, we have the NEL and DTL. Train services on both lines will also be extended by about two hours.
For those staying along the NEL, the last train departing from Harbourfront, terminating at Punggol Coast, will leave at 1:55 am. On the other side of the NEL, the last train departing from Punggol Coast, terminating at Harbourfront, will leave at 1:29 am.
It’s quite a big difference between the two timings, so be sure to get the correct timing based on the direction you’re headed, okay?
Last, we also have extended last train timings for those staying along the DTL or unfortunate enough to be in the office on the night of CNY eve. On the DTL, the last train departing from Bukit Panjang, terminating at Expo, will leave at 1:51 am. The last train departing from Expo, terminating at Bukit Panjang, will leave at 1:52 am.
Don’t say SMRT and SBS “never give chance” — if the train services are extended any later, you confirm plus chop won’t be able to wake up to go bai nian the next day.
Extended LRT Timings: Sengkang-Punggol LRT
As for LRT services, only the Sengkang-Punggol LRT will be extending its last train timing. Unfortunately for those staying along the Bukit Panjang LRT, you’ll have to hope you catch the last bus from Bukit Panjang or Choa Chu Kang MRT station back home. Otherwise, you’ll have to walk 30 minutes back to your LRT station lah.
Just in time for CNY — better clock some steps before you start clocking all those bak kwa calories.
The Sengkang-Punggol LRT service will run until after the last NEL train arrives at their respective Town Centre stations. In other words, the last LRT from Sengkang LRT will depart at 2:31 am, while the last LRT from Punggol LRT will depart at 2:34 am.
Extended Bus Timings
If you prefer the bus to the MRT, there’s good news for you too. Many bus services will also extend their last bus timings. But since there’s just too many bus services for us to summarise, you can take a look at the respective posters released by each bus operator to find your last bus timings lah.
Several SMRT bus services departing from Choa Chu Kang interchange, Woodlands Integrated Transport Hub, Bukit Panjang interchange, Boon Lay interchange, and the bus stop opposite Choa Chu Kang station, will extend their last bus timings until about 3 am.
SBS Transit will also extend many of their bus services. This includes bus services departing from Ang Mo Kio interchange, Bedok interchange, Tampines interchange, Toa Payoh interchange, and more.
Tower Transit will also extend the last bus timings for several of their bus services departing from Clementi interchange, Jurong East interchange, Bukit Batok interchange, and Sembawang interchange.
Last, we have the bus services operated by Go-Ahead Singapore. True to their name, they indeed “went ahead” with extending the last bus timings for their bus services departig from Pasir Ris and Punggol as well.
If you think you might be out past the last bus timings, perhaps you should bring two mandarin oranges out with you on CNY eve too lah. That way, you can take the first train on the first day of CNY straight to bai nian at your relatives’ houses.
Adjusted Timings for Evening Trips of Certain Peak Hour Bus Services
However, you should also note that the evening trips of several SBS services which usually operate only during peak hours will be brought forward.
The same goes for the evening trips of the peak hour bus services operated by Tower Transit.
So, don’t say Goody Feed buey brother lah, this is really all you need to know about the train and bus timings on CNY Eve 2025.
