US Singer Madison Beer Helps Pay Rent for an Aljunied Nail Salon After Heartfelt Chat

Ever seen those posts on social media about international celebrities paying for a random person’s school fees or rent?

This is exactly what happened to Hazel Wah, owner of Edens Atelier Co nail salon located at Aljunied, when American singer Madison Beer paid not just a visit to the salon, but also a month’s worth of rent.

Sharing the story of how it happened on social media, the 21-year-old recounted that Beer had sent a direct message to the salon’s Instagram account on 22 Aug, stating that her nails were “breaking and falling apart” and asking if she could get them done at the salon before her concert at the Singapore Expo that same night.

Wah described the encounter with Beer as “a surreal and amazing experience”, sharing about how they “chatted loads” and her telling Beer how the Instagram story shoutout that the singer posted would help in the financial situation of the salon.

Financial Woes

Wah shared on social media that she and her previous business partner had planned to move from a tiny office space into a bigger studio, but things didn’t work out when the business partner left her hanging, not honouring their initial agreement.

She then lost over $20,000 paying for rent, utilities, salaries and other miscellaneous expenses.

“It was a lot for me to handle as $20,000 is a huge loss for me at the age of 21.It was all really blood, sweat and tears as I worked 12-hour shifts just to cover all the aforementioned expenses,” she said.

While she did receive some help from a friend who passed her $500 as well as her fiance and other friends, she was considering “moving back to a tiny office space and restarting afresh” when she received the DM from Beer.

In her Instagram post, Wah shared that Beer was “genuinely so kind, so friendly” and that the singer had paid for her nails and her agency had transferred an amount of $3,460 afterwards. Beer then told her via Instagram DM that she had covered the rent for the month.

Wah also said: “I was seriously just in awe that she was even giving me a chance to do her nails, I still can’t comprehend the fact that she paid for my rental!!!”

Wah’s request to return the sum of money to Beer was politely refused.

Some netizens commented on how kind and sweet Beer was, while others gave words of encouragement and affirmation to Wah.

Beer was first discovered through social media when fellow US singer Justin Bieber posted a link to one of the covers she did on YouTube.
