The last time we read about a murder was during the Circuit Breaker period, when a 20-year-old man stabbed and killed a 38-year-old man who was out on a run.
The motive of the murder is still unknown, but it was mentioned that the accused had mental problems.
Today, another murder took place in Singapore, this time in Upper Serangoon.
34YO Maid Allegedly Arrested for Stabbing & Murdering 95YO Woman in a Landed Property
According to the police, they were alerted to a stabbing case at about 1:50pm today (6 July 2020) along Recreation Road off Upper Serangoon Road. A 95-year-old woman was found lying motionlessly in the house, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 34-year-old woman was arrested, and the police said they are investigating the case as murder, adding, “Preliminary investigations revealed that both the victim and the suspect are known to each other.”
The suspect will be charged tomorrow (7 July 2020).
Straits Times managed to find out more about the case.
According to its report, the 34-year-old suspect is a foreign domestic worker from Myanmar.
The incident happened in a two-storey semi-detached house.
A man who claimed to be the grandson of the 95-year-old victim said that his grandmother lived in the house, which means the victim had lived with his great-grandson.
The family also allegedly owned other houses nearby, and the neighbours had not sensed anything amiss as the neighbourhood had always been quiet.
It also appears that preparations for a wake have already been made with a tentage set up at the house.
