Another day, another case of molestation to cover.Â
Seems like nowhere in Singapore is safe from these desperate and possibly sex-deprived perverts.
Especially on public transport.

Reports of outrage of modesty had risen by 22.2 per cent from 1,282 in 2016 to 1,566 cases in 2017. Out of those, there was a 60.5 per cent rise in cases of molestation on public transport.
So with that in mind, I bring to you with a heavy heart and an exasperated sigh, another one of those stories.
Man Suspected To Have Molested Girl On TrainÂ
According to CNA, the authorities had received a report of the incident at about 6.50pm on 26 September.
The victim?
A 13-year-old girl.
The girl had been molested by a man she did not know on a train travelling from Bukit Gombak MRT station. The man left after the incident.
Man Identified Through CCTVÂ
Using the closed-circuit television images, officers from the Jurong Police Division found and established the identity of the man and arrested him on Tuesday.
He will be be charged today (3 October 2019) with the outrage of modesty of a person under 14 years of age.

If convicted, he may be jailed up to five years, fined or both.
Most Victims Are Caught Off GuardÂ
According to the executive director for the Association of Women for Action and Research Corinna Lim, she mentioned that there are more molestation cases because more people are making reports.
Despite the police’s campaign to get more people to report molestation, a lot of women still don’t report it.
Many of the victims are usually caught off guard and they would usually react in three ways: fight back, freeze from the shock, or flee.
And conservative Asian cultures that we have don’t help too. In fact, it has made us less confrontational and some see it as shameful to report being molested.

The Police’s Advice Â
Always be alert and attentive to your surroundings while taking public transport.
Don’t be so obsessed with your Korean drama and ignore your surroundings. Take note when someone stands or sits very close to you. There’s no need for extreme alarm bells, but just be careful because that person might make you his/her next victim.
If possible, move away from the person if you’re uncomfortable.
Also! Don’t feel embarrassed or ashamed to seek help immediately from the people around you if you’re molested. Singaporeans are friendlier than you think they are.
You should also take note of the prominent features and attire of the suspect, as well as the direction in which he or she went.
