There’s a Chinese saying which goes like this: “有钱能使鬼推磨”.
In simple England, it can be loosely translated as: “With money, you can do anything” or “Money Talks”.

Well, you can’t deny that this is pretty much true in the materialistic society nowadays. People can get away with almost anything as long as they have the money. So, just how effective is money at getting people’s attention?

Very effective, I would say.
And what I’m about to show you is perhaps a really good example.
on 24 Feb, a man in China had a heart attack outside a railway station in Hebei province. In an attempt to get the attention of people around him, he started throwing money.
Now, I know that it might not have been the money but the oddity that helped in capturing people’s attention.
I mean, why would someone be throwing money all over the ground outside a railway station? And surprisingly(or not), it actually worked! A nearby police officer noticed him and helped the man out, saving his life.
According to Hebei Youth Daily, the man, Mr Li, had undergone a heart stent surgery last year. Due to the immense pain from the heart attack, he was unable to open his bottle of pills or call for help.
In a desperate attempt to get help after falling to the ground and vomiting blood, Mr Li decided to throw money to get the attention of nearby pedestrians.

To be honest, that’s an impressive move! If I were him, I don’t think I can even think straight in that situation!
The police officer thought that Mr Li was just a drunkard. However, upon closer inspection, the police officer noticed something wrong.
“It was only after I walked closer that I realised that things were more serious than that,” the officer told Hebei Youth Daily.
Mr Li eventually managed to take his medication with the police officer’s help. He was attended to by medical staff before finally leaving the place.
Well, I’m glad that turned out fine in the end. I wonder if people will still approach him if the police officer wasn’t around? Either way, kudos to the officer for being vigilant and observant!
