Ladies, if you are used to hanging your laundry on the balcony outside your door, it might be time for a change.
In other words, be wary of the chee ko pek.
A woman recently discovered that a man had been taking her lingerie from the balcony outside her unit and discreetly stuffing it into his pants before returning the items as if nothing had happened.
Incident Caught on CCTV
The woman, Elyvi Lim, uploaded a Facebook post on Saturday (1 February 2025), sharing CCTV footage of the man stealing her lingerie, which she had hung outside her unit in Choa Chu Kang.
She attached three separate clips to her post. The footage, dated 31 January 2025 at around 9:35am, showed the man walking past her flat before stopping to examine the laundry.
In the first one-minute clip, the man is seen inspecting her hanging clothes before selecting a piece of lingerie and slipping it into his pants. Once at the laundry area, the man takes about 50 seconds to decide on his item of choice.
As he walks away, he places his hand near his pants zipper. He then continues walking but soon realises that a CCTV camera has been installed.
In the second clip, he is seen making direct eye contact with the CCTV camera.
At this point, he likely realises he has been caught on camera. He quickly moves a few steps back and stands near the staircase of the HDB block, looking back anxiously at the camera.
Eventually, he returns to the woman’s flat, removes the lingerie from his pants, and hangs it back as if nothing had happened.
As he walks past the unit again, he appears defeated — perhaps because he was caught and now can no longer take the lingerie.
Woman Installed CCTV After Noticing Missing Lingerie
Lim shared that she had been noticing a pattern of missing lingerie and decided to install a CCTV camera to monitor the situation. Her suspicion was confirmed when the footage captured the man’s actions.
She uploaded the videos and images to Facebook in hopes of alerting others and identifying the culprit.
In the Facebook post, she captioned, “This has been going on for sometime until I realised it. Please PM me if u guys saw this or know this person.”
The incident occurred at Block 600+ in Choa Chu Kang, near the Yew Tee area. While Lim did not disclose her exact unit, she provided enough details for residents in the vicinity to be cautious.
According to Mothership, the police confirmed that a report was lodged by the woman.
They stated that a 27-year-old man is currently assisting with investigations for a case of dishonest misappropriation of property.
Woman Continues to Urge Public to Share Post
Although her initial post was made three days ago, Lim continues to urge people to spread awareness about the incident, reiterating that “this kind of pervert really must catch”.
So far, her post has garnered over 500 shares, with netizens expressing shock and concern over the incident.
