If you’re a driver who’s been banned for 30 years, chances are you’re not a very skilled one.
That didn’t stop one Singaporean man from crashing two different cars. He also took meth, carjacked a woman’s car, and threatened police officers with a sickle.
You’re probably asking, “What the hell happened?”
Buckle up, because this story’s one hell of a ride.
On January 5, 2018, Chew Guan Mong was driving along the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) towards Tuas, despite being banned from driving.
He had a bag containing a sickle, a long knife, and a bottle of kerosene – items you would expect a character from Fallout 4 to have, not a 45-year-old Singaporean man.
He drove a rented black Toyota Camry, swerving from side to side until his car scraped the side of an SMRT bus near the exit to Clementi Road.
Chew then collided into the centre guard railings and a wall near the road shoulder.
At this point, you and I would probably call the police and rental company to inform them of the accident and avoid any further traffic issues.
But he abandoned the car, ran down a slope near Upper Bukit Timah Road, and carjacked a red Mazda 6 instead.
After being threatened with a sickle, the female driver, understandably, left her car.
Chew then drove off towards the Woodland Checkpoint.
Causeway drama
Continuing his idiocy, the 45-year-old got stuck in the motorcycle lane at the Woodlands Checkpoint by mistake.
He then intentionally crashed through a traffic control barrier in his desperation to escape.
You can see why he was banned from driving for 30 years.
Despite causing S$6,516.30 of damages to public property, Chew was not quite done yet.
Police confrontation
The inept driver then got out of his wrecked car wielding a sickle and warned the police, ICA officers, and AETOS auxiliary officers not to approach him.

Thankfully, the officers overpowered and arrested him.
A jack of all trades
After his arrest, police found a packet containing methamphetamine in Chew’s possession.
He also admitted to being involved in a loan shark harassment incident, possessing a knuckle-duster and a flick knife, and consuming meth.
Moreover, he aided criminals in a kidnapping in Malaysia.
Charges
On Wednesday (Aug 28), Chew pleaded guilty to charges of armed robbery, drug-related offences, traffic violations, carjacking, consuming methamphetamine, and vandalism.
Another 25 charges will be taken into consideration for sentencing.
The 45-year-old isn’t the most upstanding citizen, to say the least.
Let’s hope he never comes near a car, human, or sickle again.
