Weddings are difficult to plan.

After all, your wedding is supposed to be the happiest day of your life. The immense amount of pressure for everything to be perfect can be emotionally draining.

More often than not, the stress may take a toll on a couple and result in a quarrel or two.

While the anger usually isn’t explosive and eventually subsides, this man was so angry with his wife that he tossed a 25kg bike down from the 14th floor.

What Happened?

On 23 January 2021, Mohammad Noor Iszuan Noordin and his wife were planning for their wedding in his flat.

However, things turned ugly when they began arguing about what they should wear for their upcoming wedding reception.

The argument got so heated that Noor stomped out of his Choa Chu Kang Crescent flat in a fit of rage.

Upon spotting a yellow bicycle parked outside, he threw it over the parapet of the 14th floor without thinking twice.

Later, a member of the public called the police to report that someone had thrown a bicycle down.

Noor was eventually arrested during police investigations.

The Yellow Ofo Bike was 25kg

The bike that Noor had thrown from the 14th floor was an Ofo bike.

If you don’t remember, Ofo was a bike-sharing firm that lost its licence to operate back in 2019 as they were unable to justify why they should keep their licence to the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

Which makes the presence of a random Ofo bike right outside a flat in 2021 drew some eyebrows

Back when bike-sharing was trendy, bikes from companies such as Ofo received their fair share of abuse. For instance, a youth who crashed an Ofo bike into a wall in an attempt to go viral. There was also a case where a boy threw an Ofo bike down from a Whampoa HDB block.

Needless to say, tossing a 25kg bike from the 14th floor is an extremely dangerous action.

I can’t even lift 25kg on my own.

The rash act was committed at around 7.15pm, where many would have been returning home from school or work. Thankfully, in spite of the odds, nobody was around.

Not everyone has been so lucky when it comes to killer litter.

Earlier in April, a man threw a bottle down from his condominium apartment that fatally hit a grandfather.

Seeing the damage that a mere bottle can do, imagine the harm that a 25kg bike could have brought to an innocent person.

Sentenced to Six Weeks’ Imprisonment

Notably, Noor had been previously diagnosed with borderline intellectual functioning, a diagnosis given to people who function with an IQ that is lower than average, but not low enough to be considered a disability.

In addition to this diagnosis, Noor’s defence lawyer Anand Nalachandran called the offence “an emotional reaction” and asked for a two-week jail sentence instead.

Nalachandran said, “The fact he didn’t check is quite consistent with the fact that this was an emotional outburst.” Furthermore, Noor has not committed any other offences since the incident.

However, Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Yeow Xuan noted that Noor had initially lied about his involvement in the incident during the police investigation and pointed out that he had previously been convicted with offences relating to housebreaking and theft.

She also brought up the potential harm the bike could have done, if he had not been so lucky.

Noor was sentenced to six weeks in jail.

Committing a rash act that endangers the personal safety of others can lead to a jail term of up to six months, a fine of up to $2,500, or both.
