In what looked like a scene from a Netflix TV series, a man abandoned his girlfriend’s 6-month-old baby at Singapore General Hospital and fled a few days ago.
Needless to say, this led to a full-blown manhunt involving the police and two anti-riot vehicles.
The police then intercepted the man’s vehicle along Jalan Bukit Merah.
He wasn’t about to give up that easily though, must be because of all the action movies he’s watched. The man then decided to flee the scene on foot.
Plot twist: Further investigation revealed suspected drug-related articles and equipment in the man’s car.
Narcos, anyone?
But Wait, the Plot Thickens.
Presently, the police have finally arrested the man after a three-day joint operation by the police and the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB). The police and the CNB found his hideout located near Woodlands Street 13, where he was arrested.
Yes, he has a secret lair, just like the bad guys in the movies.
CNB officers found 19g of ‘Ice’ and a few other drug-related items from his secret lair. I mean hideout.
You must be wondering…
What Happened to the Girlfriend?
Well, the baby’s 28-year-old mother has also been arrested for suspected child abuse and drug-related offences.
We’re glad that this three-day TV series has a happy ending too since the baby is safe and sound at KK Women’s and Children Hospital.
Now, What are the Charges the 2 Adults Might Face?
Anyone convicted of child abuse faces a maximum of 4 years in prison or a fine not exceeding $4,000, or both.
While a person convicted of drug consumption could face a maximum of 10 years’ imprisonment or a $20,000 fine or both.
Moral of the story: Say no to drugs. And don’t watch too much Narcos.
