It hasn’t been a good start for McDonald’s in 2019.
The fast-food giant came out with the highly anticipated salted egg yolk loaded fries, and unfortunately most people remember it as the sour egg yolk loaded fries with a weird strong smell – I’ll go on a limb and declare that the only correlation between salted egg yolk and the fries is the name.
People were of course wondering: where are the Prosperity Burgers and Twister Fries, the two popular items that have always slid into their menu during CNY?
Not sure how the blue bird comes into the picture, but anyways, your wish is granted: the sour egg yolk loaded fries is now part of history, and our favourites are finally coming back: with a few BFFs.
Prosperity Burgers & Twister Fries Back
I guess I won’t need to introduce them, eh? The super peppery burgers and best-est fries would be available from tomorrow (24 January 2019) onward.
They’ll come in either beef patty or chicken patty, and just like any year, you can choose to have it in a single patty at $5.50 or double patty at $7.50.
Lest you’re new to this item, here’s a one-sentence description, courtesy of McDonald’s: “Drenched in our classic signature black pepper sauce, topped with sliced onions, and tucked between delicious toasted sesame seed buns, this returning crowd-pleaser is set to bring bundles of joy to you and your family this year.”
The Twister Fries will go for $3.40 ala carte or an additional $0.70 if you upgrade your meal. For the uninitiated, this is one heck of a fries that you shouldn’t miss.
For a meal with a Prosperity Burger (either chicken or beef), Twister Fries, Peach Pie and Milo, it’ll be at a promotional price of $9.50, and is aptly called a Prosperity Feast.
And if you buy that meal, you’ll also get a cute set of ang bao.
This is available even if you order through McDelivery or GrabFood.
If you’re feeling lucky, you can join a lucky draw to win gold – literally. They will be offering three lucky customers daily the chance to win a pair of Prosperity Nestle Gold Wafer Bars, worth $868, starting from 5 February until 27 February.
Simply purchase a Prosperity Feast, at the restaurants or via McDelivery, and SMS “PROSPERITY
The giveaway terms and conditions, as well as daily winner announcement, will be available on the Prosperity campaign page at www.mcdonalds.com.sg/prosperity (think the website is not active yet, though).
Morning HUAT
So, you’re an early bird and couldn’t huat with the Prosperity Burgers.
No worries, for this year, McDonald’s is releasing a new item for the morning warriors, too.
They’ve come out with the all-new Hotcakes with Golden Chicken – three pieces of hotcakes drizzled with syrup and margarine, paired with a golden chicken cutlet for that extra good fortune.
This breakfast platter is available from $6.50 at participating stores islandwide and via McDelivery from 24 January only during breakfast hours, while stock last.
And also, McDonald’s did a nice promotional video – we won’t have included that in but ‘cuz my colleague has a crush on the main actress, I’m putting it in:
Just so you know, it’s to celebrate McDonald’s 40 years in Singapore, and is shot entirely in Hong Kong.
Now, let’s say goodbye to Sour Egg Yolk Loaded Fries and hello to Twister Fries!
