What would you do if you came across a box of Jenga on Carousell?
Unless you had a particular liking for the game, you’d probably scroll past it and forget about it within a few seconds, right? After all, Jenga has been around since the 1980s, and we’ve seen countless different iterations since, much like Monopoly.
But what about a Jenga block that looks like a Big Mac? Would you scroll past that?
A Brief Recap
Yesterday (16 Nov), McDonald’s launched their latest plaything: a McDonald’s-themed Jenga set.
The blocks are apparently inspired by the look of their Big Mac and French Fries. Have a look:
Now, if you look really closely, and by that I mean look at it like you normally would, you’d notice a very important reminder at the top of the box:
“Not for Resale”.
To normal people, this means one thing: that you shouldn’t resell these Jenga sets to other people. So, you certainly wouldn’t expect to find it online, available for purchase.
But what we’re forgetting is that there’s a breed of humans out there who will seize every opportunity and pounce on every chance when something can be resold online.
People Have Started Reselling McDonald’s Jenga on Carousell for Up to $80
So, it wasn’t exactly surprising when we saw these McDonald’s Jenga sets on Carousell on the same day they were given out.
Prices range from $38 to $80, with some sets kept in the McDonald’s takeaway bag, unopened.
In fact, we predicted that this would happen when we reported McDonald’s launch last week:
Did we employ Nostradamus to work for Goody Feed? Not exactly.
McDonald’s Food Sold on Carousell During Circuit Breaker
Carouselllers have a long history of reselling things purchased from all sorts of stores across Singapore, including McDonald’s.
During the circuit breaker, when McDonald’s was closed, listings for Fillet-o-Fishes, McGriddles, and curry sauce popped up faster on Carousell than pimples on my teenage face.
Available Only via McDelivery
It boggles the mind why Carousellers would put up these Jenga sets for sale now, when customers can still get them from the fast-food chain itself.
Their Big Mac Jenga set is already available, while their Fries Jenga set will be available from 23 November.
These sets are available only via McDelivery, and come with every purchase of a JENGA Set Bundle, of which there are five to choose from:
Or you know, you could wait until it’s sold out and then buy it on Carousell for $200.
Reader: Hmm… tough choices lay ahead.
