The war between Singapore and Malaysia isn’t just about who has the better nasi lemak.
McDonald’s in both countries are always vying for the top spot. Or, at least, that’s what we’ve always imagined it to be.
If there really is a top spot that Singapore and Malaysia’s number one fast food restaurant chains are fighting over, Malaysia seemed to have gotten the upper hand with their latest offering.

Chicken Rendang Pie
Less than 4 months ago, McDonald’s Singapore released their first ever savoury pie, the Creamy Herb Chicken Pie.
Unfortunately, it didn’t really hit the spot.
It’s slim and tastes just like any other chicken pie in Singapore, according to my gluttonous colleague who “reserved” the pie for himself.
But that doesn’t mean McDonald’s doesn’t know how to create savoury pies. If you’ve tried their carbonara pie in Thailand, you’d know that they do know their stuff around pies.
Not convinced? McDonald’s Malaysia is now stepping up to the plate with their Chicken Rendang pie.
And the best part? The pie crust is made of curry puff crust, wrapped around savoury rendang and shredded chicken pieces.
Don’t get your hopes up too much on the amount of chicken within, though.

Each Chicken Rendang pie costs RM4.90, or about S$1.49.
Now, if you’ve thought that was the only thing McDonald’s Malaysia is offering, you’re wrong.
Salted Caramel & Chocolate Pie
Just recently, Singapore McDonald’s announced that they’re bringing back the chocolate pie that Singaporeans went crazy over.
But McDonald’s Malaysia is going one step further to offer not just chocolate pie, but salted caramel chocolate pie.

Yes, they’re offering Malaysians (and Singaporeans who are travelling to JB) the best of both worlds.
Imagine thick, salted caramel mixed with crispy pie crust and delicious chocolate, all oozing inside your mouth.
I don’t know about you, but I’m drooling just imagining biting into that pie.
This pie is selling at RM3.50, or approximately S$1.16.
Double the variety, but at a cheaper price.

KitKat McFlurry Making a Comeback Too
When it comes to chocolate, Kit Kat is considered as one of the top.
And when it comes to soft serve, McDonald’s soft serve ice cream is no slouch.
But what happens when you combine both of them?
Yes, you get KitKat McFlurry.
The Kit Kat McFlurry goes for RM6.96 (S$2.31).
And the KitKat McFlurry Party, big enough for three to four people, is selling at RM12.95 (S$4.30).
