Whoopie!
Excited, we logged onto their delivery site pronto, and we saw this.
We begged our boss for a taste test, and luckily for us, he gave the go-ahead (alongside his golden credit card).
We jumped in joy, got our asses to the computer, and we started to abuse the credit card, all the while screaming like banana-deprived monkeys.
30 minutes later…
Did you hear that? The delivery guy’s here!
Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for the…
Taste Test!
First impression of the oh-so-awesome Samurai Chicken burger!
Well, the grilled chicken patty could be bigger. Compared to its beef counterpart, it looks like a freaking mouse.
But it did look appetizing. The mayo is just oozing out, and the teriyaki sauce seemed to be beckoning to me.
I proceeded to hold it tightly with both hands, before sinking my teeth into it.
Man, I’m telling you. It tastes exactly the same as previous years.
You know how flavours might change slightly because an item hasn’t been in production for a while?
The samurai chicken burger’s flavour, surprisingly, is whole fully intact.
Each bite provided a succulent mouthful of chicken meat, with a relishing mix of mayo and teriyaki sauce.
It just glides down my throat, clean as a whistle.
Granted, as I was saying, the chicken patty could be bigger. I finished the thing in less than one minute.
But it’s just… shiok.
Although I’m not sure whether it was because of my hunger… but I’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.
As for the seaweed shaker fries, they just taste like… seaweed shaker fries. If you’re a fan of it, you’ll definitely welcome it with open arms.
Just don’t make a mess like me when opening the packet of seaweed seasoning.
Final impression
Should you get the burger and fries?
My answer is…
Yeah.
If you were a frequent patron of the Samurai burger in the past, you’ll definitely enjoy it as much this time around.
On the other hand, if you haven’t tried it before, I reckon it’s worth a shot.
There are way worse options out there to blow 6 bucks on, after all.

Note: they will be out only for a limited time, so I’ll advise you to grab them as soon as you can.
Recommended value meal: Samurai Special meals are priced from $8.80, and include a large seaweed shaker fries and a large Heaven & Earth green tea drink.
If you’re curious about the Matcha McFlurry with red beans, stay tuned, because my colleague has penned a separate article on it!
The Ninja Burger
But wait, it might not just be the Samurai burger?
According to ancient folklore, the Samurai burger has never been alone. It has actually been doing battle with a mysterious burger all these years.
And it’s none other than the…
Ninja burger.
While it has yet to reveal its true identity, speculations said that it might be a charcoal bun version of the Samurai burger: charcoal buns on the outside and black-pepper sauce on grilled chicken or beef patties.
However, we will have to wait till further notice to know the real truth.
It’s alright, McDonald’s; just keep us waiting.
