If you didnโ€™t know, McDonaldโ€™s social media game is strong, almost as strong as Dwayne Johnson.

They catch the trendiest stuff on Facebook and then amplify the trend. If McDonaldโ€™s and Buzzfeed has a child, sheโ€™ll be called Laurel (though my younger colleagues would call her Yanny).

Remember the Chocolate pie by McDonaldโ€™s?

Yeah, they drummed the excitement so much it was sold out fast.

And we wonโ€™t want to go into the nasi lemak everything trend.

And guess what? Theyโ€™re back at it again.

With an item worthy of champions coming back to Singapore

For two whole years, petitions were launched, people begged and prayers were uttered.

And finally, after 730 days of waiting, not knowing if the wait was in vain or not, your hopes and dreams has been answered.

And with this move, McDonaldโ€™s showed that theyโ€™re paying attention to what people are saying on the ground.

Donโ€™t understand what McDonaldโ€™s is doing? Well, itโ€™s yet another trend.

You see, the online trends nowadays is to look at what people are talking about; if someone repeatedly asks for an item for months (or even years), provide that item and make it viral.

Like what KFC did with their hot devil drumlets.

And what Netflix did with Friends.

The whole idea is to look for a superfan and admit that the decision made was for him or herโ€ฆand ta-da! News media has a good angle to write about, people have a story to tell their friends and the item would go viral.

That, my friend, is ingenious.

So McDonaldโ€™s did it as well, and with this burger:

Now, mark this date down: 7 June 2018.

Because this the date when the all-star champion, one and only, the legendary McGriddle will be coming back to town!

And Singaporeans are ecstatic. Because why not?

The Facebook post, posted by McDonaldโ€™s just two days ago reached almost 800 shares.

From this, you know that the McDonaldโ€™s breakfast queue could be as crazy as the Hello Kitty ones back in 2000.

What the heck is McGriddles?

Of course, I asked everyone in the office and surprisingly, no one knows what the heck it is. One of them even think itโ€™s a new form of twister fries.

Basically, according to our good friend Wikipedia, McGriddles is a sandwich that has โ€œfried bacon, a scrambled egg flap, and American cheese served on a small pancake griddle cake made with maple flavoring. Both the top and bottom griddle cakes are embossed with the McDonaldโ€™s logo.โ€

Wait, pancake griddle cake?!

But netizens are now asking for more

So, thereโ€™s one draw back to granting requests from your fans. Theyโ€™re bound to ask for more, especially Singaporeans.

I mean, we are kind of known for trying our luck, arenโ€™t we? After all, the trend is โ€œask and you shall be givenโ€.

When McDonaldโ€™s brought choco pie to Singapore, Singaporeans be likeโ€ฆhmmmokay, that could be a fluke.

Then McGriddle happened and Singaporeans be like, oohhh, so I can ask for stuff and Iโ€™ll get it.

And thatโ€™s what happened.

Netizens asked for stuff like McCrisp and the two superheroes.

McDonaldโ€™s foldover.

And quarter pounders. Now, this, I second.

What would you want them to bring back? For me, itโ€™s the Ninja burger.
