67cm Metal Rod Flew & Pierced Moving Car Along TPE, Narrowing Missing The Driver

There’s a saying that the roads are the jaws of death, and it’s not hard to see why.

And that saying was recently proven once again recently, when a 67cm-long metal rod was seen flying along the Tampines Expressway (TPE) and right into the front of a car.

On 28 June, Facebook page ROADS.sg uploaded the following video onto social media.

In the video recorded by the dashboard camera of a car, a black-coloured rod-like object came flying in the car’s direction, hitting its left side.

There was also a loud noise after the metal rod hit the car, and the photo attached showed that the metal rod had pierced the left bumper of the car.

According to the caption attached, the incident happened before Exit 5 at Pasir Ris Drive 12/Tampines Avenue 5 on the TPE towards Changi Airport at around 3.20pm on Saturday (25 June).

“I saw a black object flying towards my car and hitting it on the left. I thought it was a black plastic object initially but when I stopped the car, I was shocked to see that it was a long and heavy metal bar which is about 67cm.

“The metal bar had pierced through the bumper and broke the headlight,” the driver recalled.

“If the metal bar had landed on the windscreen or hit a motorcyclist, the outcome would be unimaginable.”

In the caption, the driver also appealed for any witnesses or any other camera footage that captured the unfortunate incident.

After the video was uploaded, netizens left comments expressing how the driver was unlucky

There were also Facebook users who agreed with the driver that the consequences would have been much direr if the rod had hit a motorcyclist.

“If motorcyclist may pierce right thru their body. If windscreen may pierce right thru driver or passenger…” one user wrote.

Others advised the driver to just claim his car insurance, as it would be difficult to determine where the rod came from.
