Now, I know you’re already lacing your shoes ready to fly out the door like a newborn baby bird out of the nest because you saw the word “sale”.
But let me at least tell you more about it first.
Metro’s flagship store closing down
Retail store Metro has announced that they are closing their flagship store at Centrepoint on 15 September 2019.
The announcement follows the closure of many other retail stores in Centrepoint, including Times Bookstores and TianPo Jewellery.
Even Crystal Jade and The Better Toy Store have left the mall. Why? Is there something spooky going on at Centrepoint?
Not exactly.
Low traffic
Some speculate that Metro and many other former Centrepoint tenants struggled with their business due to low traffic.
According to MSNews, stores like Metro do not appeal to the younger generation, most of whom shop at nearby malls like Paragon, 313@Somerset, and Orchard Central.
Centrepoint is basically that old uncle who wears ripped jeans and a denim jacket in an attempt to fit in.
It’s just sad.
Clearance sale
Fortunately, this closure comes with a closing down sale, which is something both the old and young love.
Until 15 September 2019, Metro Centrepoint will be having a clearance sale of up to 85% off.
Here’s a sneak peek courtesy of the folks at Singapore Atrium Sale.
We’re talking luggages
Luxury bags
Hello Kitty bed sheets

And so much more.
The retail store has everything from clothes and accessories to watches and health supplements. If you want something on the cheap, Metro probably has it.
You only have around two weeks to fill your shopping bags with cheap items you don’t really need, so go soon!

- Operating Hours: 10am-9.30pm

So, is that game over for Metro?
Nope, because according to what we’ve heard, a newer and most importantly, younger business is set to take over the space.

That’s right, it’s like going from one extreme end to the other. From expensive branded items (Metro) to cheapo sports place (Decathlon).
And by cheapo, I don’t mean lousy quality.
I’m talking about the prices.
I guess we can say Centrepoint and cheap prices are just starting their journey together, huh?
