Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh has had an exciting year.

Rising to fame in the 1990s after starring in numerous Hong Kong action films, she made history this year by being the first Asian woman to win an Academy Award for best actress.

This award followed her performance in the critically acclaimed film Everything Everywhere All at Once

More exciting news has been revealed about the 60-year-old actress.

Yeoh has finally married 77-year-old Jean Todt, her fiancé of 19 years.

She is receiving all forms of happiness, everything everywhere all at once.

Who is Jean Todt?

Born in 1946 and raised in France, Todt attended the Ecole des Cafres School of Economics and Business in Paris.

He began his career as a rally co-driver in 1966, winning many races like the Tour de France Automobile Rally and World Rally Championship.

From 2009 to 2021, he was the president of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile.

If you didn’t know, that’s the federation that oversees the Formula One World Championship.

In other words, he is a big shot, especially in the racing scene.

Michelle Yeoh and Jean Todt Met in 2004 

The pair met at an event in Shanghai on 4 June 2004.

Yeoh was doing a publicity event for Ferrari, and Todt was working as Ferrari’s General Manager at the time.

The two hit it off immediately.

Yeoh talked about her first meeting with Todt in an interview.

She said, “A guy was being rude while trying to clear the stage. So, Jean approached him and talked him down.

“He’s about my height, and the fact that he could talk down someone bigger than him was my first impression of him – and a good one.”

Interestingly enough, Todt proposed to Yeoh on 26 July 2004, one month after they met.

However, it took 19 years for them to finally tie the knot.

In June 2023, an exclusive source revealed to Us Weekly, “They got engaged very quickly, but when they started planning a wedding, no dates worked because they both were so busy with their careers.”

The news was actually revealed by veteran Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa.

Massa posted an Instagram post congratulating the couple on their marriage with the caption, “Happy marriage #JeanTodt & #MichelleYeoh, love you so much.”

He posted a few photos of the wedding program, which read, “We met in Shanghai on 4 June 2004.

“On 26 July 2004, JT proposed to marry MY, and she said YES!

Jean Todt Learnt to Use SMS to Talk to Michelle Yeoh

In a previous interview with the Financial Times, the couple called their meeting “a fairytale”.

In 2014, Todt said he learnt to use SMS to talk to Yeoh.

He said, “I don’t use a computer. I don’t know how to. My maximum is SMS. I wanted to communicate with my wife. So I spoke to Michael Schumacher. We were together. He said send an SMS. I said I don’t know how to send one. So he was the one who taught me.”

In a previous interview with Town & Country, Yeoh mentioned that the pair planned on getting married in 2022.

However, they were too busy to think about what kind of ceremony they wanted.

She said, “He [Jean Todt] counts the number of days rather than the years.

“I’ll ask him, ‘What is the present for 6,725 days?’”

In a 2022 interview with the Los Angeles Times, Yeoh shared her thoughts on marriage, saying, “A piece of paper doesn’t change it for me.

“But it means a lot to Jean, so it means a lot to me.”

The pair have homes all over the world.

Besides having a home in the romantic city of Paris, the couple also have homes in Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh and Hong Kong.

Michelle Yeoh Became a Stepmom to Jean Todt’s Adult Son

When Yeoh and Todt got together, the latter’s son was already a nearly 30-year-old adult.

Todt’s son, Nicholas Todt, founded All Roads Management in 2003 and has a similar career to his father.

In December 2020, Yeoh posted a photo of the trio enjoying dinner together on Instagram.

She captioned it, “With my Todt boys and the best dinner.”

Before dating Todt, Yeoh was married to businessman Dickson Poon.

They were married from 1988 to 1992.

However, the relationship ended when Yeoh learned she couldn’t have kids.

After Massa posted about the couple’s wedding, Yeoh and Todt didn’t speak about it publicly until 28 July.

In a tweet, Todt wrote, “Now that my other son @MassaFelipe19 has discreetly spread the good news, I can happily confirm the union with the Love of my life, Michelle.”

Yeoh has yet to post anything about the marriage on social media.
