MOM & ICA Say That Ramesh’s Educational Qualifications Were Not Falsified

Many people rejoice when the PMD ban was announced, but I’ve a feeling that the loudest cheer came from a certain condo unit in Whampoa.

After all, the talk of the town before the PMD ban was Ramesh Erramalli: even with the doxxing laws, his details had been disclosed online, and while some people weren’t happy with his high position, eagle-eyed netizens also CSI-ed on his educational qualifications that have raised some eyebrows.

If you’ve forgotten everything about Ramesh because walking peacefully on the footpath has made you a goldfish, here’s the allegation.

Ramesh Erramalli’s Educational Qualifications in His LinkedIn Profile

LinkedIn is a double-edged sword.

On one hand, people can know your education and where you work in. On the other hand, people can know your education and where you work in.

It’s all a matter of perspective, but in this case, netizens were concerned about integrity.

In Ramesh’s LindedIn profile, it’s stated that he had studied for his Postgraduate Diploma in Computers and Information Management at a private school Uptron ACL in India.

Nothing’s wrong with that; he also has a degree in an England university.

But netizens realized something fishy about Uptron ACL.

On 28 October 2019, someone from Hardwarezone Forums apparently went to Uptron ACL’s listed address and found this:

Wait, what?

Then, on the next day, another person went to the address, and for some reason, he or she was able to find the school.

However, the person alleged that it just took three months to complete the diploma, and it cost merely SGD$100.

Nevertheless, do remember that in Singapore, there are also schools that provide distance-learning degree in a year. And also, SGD$100 is a lot of money in India.

The news has been quiet until yesterday, when it turns out that MOM and ICA had stepped in to investigate after the public outcry.

No Evidence That Ramesh’s Educational Qualifications Were Fake

Yesterday (8 November 2019), the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said in a joint statement that there was no evidence to show that Ramesh’s  educational qualifications were falsified.

They then revealed that from 2015 to September 2019, there were 3,700 foreigners who were permanently barred from working in Singapore after they tried to use fake qualifications in their work-pass applications.

MOM added, “MOM will revoke the work passes of foreign employees found to have submitted forged documents in their work-pass application and permanently bar them from working in Singapore.”

So, even if Ramesh’s diploma isn’t goody, it’s still a diploma nevertheless. And who the heck looks at your diploma when you’ve a degree?

We shouldn’t judge, shouldn’t we?

Every school, a good school.
