Once again, it’s T.G.I.F and you can’t wait to get off work.
Cuz you don’t have to see your boss’s face for two days, right?!
Here’s something to tide you over till the end of the day: 8 topics that Singaporeans are gossiping about right now.
From Etude’s house products that could cause gastrointestinal disease to how the train and bus fares are going to increase, there’s plenty you need to know about!
EWL Train Stations Will Close Early & Open Late Every Weekend
If you’re a frequent MRT user and planning to go somewhere this weekend, make sure you don’t put it too early.
Because all 35 stations along the East-West Line (EWL) will be opening late and closing early on all weekends.
Stations will open at about 8 am
And closes at about 11 pm on the weekends.
But here’s some good news: SMRT will be providing six shuttle bus services and four express bus services during this period.
This is to give SMRT engineers more time to test the new signalling system and integrate it with existing SMRT infrastructure.
So fewer disruptions mah. Hopefully.
Etude House Recalling Two Products Cuz They May Cause Gastrointestinal Disease
Brought stuff from Etude House recently? Then you better check your purchases.
Etude House is recalling the AC Clean-Up Mild Concealer with serial number “AAH” and expiry date 8 Jan 2021. Also, they are recalling the Drawing Eyebrow Duo No. 3 in grey-brown with serial number “GLG” and expiry date 17 Dec 2020.
The products are found to contain excessive traces of the metal, antimony, which can result in eye irritation or gastrointestinal (GI) disease.
Signs of GI are typically easy to overlook and include things like heartburn, ulcers, flatulence, and stomach aches.
You can bring it back for a full refund or exchange for another product.
Public Transport Council Reveals New Fare Calculation & It’s Bad News For S’poreans
Since we’re on the topic of transport, here’s one more that Singaporeans are talking about: Public Transport Fare adjustment.
Here’s some good news to start things off.
So long as you enter different stations within 15 minutes, you don’t have to pay an additional boarding charge of $0.77.
This will help you to travel shorter distances with lower fares.
Now, ready for the bad news?
A new component called the Network Capacity Factor will be added to fare calculation.
Here’s how it’s calculated:
If supply more than demand, NCF increases (so fare increase). If supply less than demand, NCF decrease (so fare decreases).
In other words, how much it’ll increase depends on how many people are taking the buses and trains.
Also, the Productivity Extraction will be reviewed, which is highly likely to drop from 0.5% to 0.1%.
The PTC said that they’ll only be able to reveal the new fares in the third quarter of this year.
