You might remember this article, whereby a Malaysia mother confronted her daughter’s teacher for caning her daughter.
As she complained, she filmed the entire process and uploaded it online, which no doubt has gone viral and split netizens into two camps: one that supports the teacher and another one that supports the mother.
Long story cut short, the teacher had caned the student as she had called him “Ah Gua” in front of other students, and the mother wasn’t happy with that.

She has even lodged a police report for the incident.
In a sudden twist, everyone’s made up, and even took the time for a photo op because if it’s not on photo, it never happened.
Met Up, Made Up, Photographed UP
Lest you’ve not seen the video, here’s what happened:
And a few days later, they pulled off a M. Night Shyamalan as they’re friends again.
So, what happened?
Apparently, after the video went viral, the school’s parent support group set up a meeting between the student, her mother and the teacher, together with Johor Education, Human Resource, Science and Technology Committee chairman Aminolhuda Hassan.
And it seems like in this case, words are more powerful than the rod, for after the closed-door meeting, they reconciled their differences and would not be prolonging the issue. In fact, after the meeting, both of them apologised openly to each other.

And of course, a photo op after that.
Aminolhuda Hassan said, “The meeting between them went smoothly where both sides made efforts to resolve the matter well…At the same time, the female student’s family has also withdrawn their police report and we consider the matter settled.”
But here’s the problem; investigations are still ongoing despite the mother’s withdrawal of the police report, as it is up to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) to close the case. The case is being investigated under Malaysia’s Section 324 of the Penal Code for deliberately causing injury.
Relief for Teacher?
Prior to this meeting, the Deputy Education Minister of Malaysia has said that caning of female students isn’t allowed, and even for “caning for male students, only two areas are allowed, on the palm of the hand or the buttocks and only the head master or school principal has the authority to do so.”
It’s unknown what actions would be taken for the teacher.

But hopefully, this would be the last we hear from them.
